Gloks Are Now Iegal to sell in Massachussets

All models of Glock pistols can no longer be sold in Massachussets because they are inherently unsafe.
However, Glocks could made legal for saleagain in Massachussets with the following "minor" changes.
o change the plastic frame to steel
o add a magazine safety
o add a manual safety
o add a chamber loaded indicator
o Increase the trigger pull to a levek at which a child cannot fire the pistol. (one version defines a child as 10 yerrs old or younger. Another reportedly sas 5 years old)

I'm sure that after Gaston Glock stops swearing he can take care of these trival design changes in a few hours!

It is inherently unsafe? The thing operates like a revolver, in a manner of speaking. You pull the trigger and it goes bang, pull the trigger on a revolver and it goes bang. Neither weapon has a safety that has to be manipulated. These people that come up with these so called "safety Laws", need to do one thing. They need to bend over and say "POP", thats the sound of their heads coming out of their rear anatomy!

Yup--its true!

Had a customer of mine today in mass say he couldnt pick up his glock at the transfer dealer because the brownshirts were all over the place.

This aint pretty.

I hope real America wakes up this november--

Does the plastic frame changed to steel law only directed toward Glock? Or is it also directed towards other gun makers of plastic receivers? If not, is this a way at getting back at Glock for not signing the "lame duck" Clinton proposal? Is Kennedy the major player behind all this nonsense? I guess S&W will be a hot seller now that the political pigs have taken the wind out of Glock's sail. Sling Shot

sorry ignorant

what does a magazine safety do?

No, this does not effect just Glock. Any pistol or revolver which is not made entirely of steel is called "Inherently unsafe" by the Massachussets AG's decree.
All hanguns with parts made of plastic, aluminium, or titanium are banned.

This does not have to make any sense. The Massachussets AG merely issues decrees which have not been aproved by the state legislature and says that he will prosecute any one who violates his decree. If stste and federal courts uphold his right to do this he will get away with it. Probably the only thing that will stop it is an injunction frpm a judge having legal juristdiction.

MA is owned and operated as the personal property of the Kennedys. Next election, MD will be the same. There are millions of them and they keep coming.

It is difficult to come up with a trigger pull that you can do with a finger and a child from 5 to 10 can't pull with two fingers or using some little lever.

So MA screwed SW also - HA HA

I have read the AG's bull**** and I don't remember there being anything in there about non steel frames being restricted. I probably missed it but could you enlighten me on where in the decree it states that. My gun dealer told me the only reasons glock is out is because of the trigger pull, no mag lock and no loaded chamber indicator on the extractor. Now i have to drive to Maine to buy a new Fu**in pistol. I am 23 and just got my license to carry 2 months ago. its a good thing I already bought some pistols.

Jeepster: Sorry, but if you're a Massachusetts resident, you can't buy a pistol in Maine (or, in fact, in any state other than MA). The federal Gun Control Act of 1968 makes it illegal to purchase a handgun out of state. A dealer in Maine will not sell you a pistol, unless it is transferred through an FFL in Massachusetts. The FFL in MA will have to abide by the AGs regulations, and thus will not complete the transfer if the gun doesn't meet the AGs regs. So, going out of state is not an option to skirt this regulation. Jared

You're incorrect about not being able to sell plastic or aluminum framed guns in MA. If you read the AGs regulations, you'll see that Section 16.04 Paragraph 1 contains the melting point stuff. It says that you can't sell a gun in MA if the frame, barrel, cylinder, slide, or breechblock would has a melting point of less than 900 degrees.

HOWEVER, now read Section 16.04 Paragraph 3, which states that Paragraph 1 does not apply to any gun which passes certain performance tests.

Regarding Glocks, for Glocks to be legal in MA, they would have to:

1. mark the serial number in a second super-secret place,
2. EITHER add a magazine safety or a chamber-loaded indicator, and

3. make the trigger pull greater than 10 lbs.

I don't remember whether or not the Glock has an external extractor. If it does, than you can make a chamber-loaded indicator simply by putting a bit of red paint on the extractor (which is what HK did to the USP). So there would be no need for the magazine safety.

I heard that the new law does not affect used firearms sales. If that is true, can a dealer fire his (or her) new handguns a few times, and sell them as used guns, thus bypassing the restrictions?

Good thing the AG rat is protecting MA citizens from "dangerous" pruducts. Maybe he'll see fit to have the likes of Boston's PD trade in their "dangerous" Glocks for something safer.

So many pistols, so little money.

Folks, regarding used firearms, why don't you just read the regulations yourself? After all, that's why I posted the URL. Sigh.

For those of you too lazy to click on the URL and read, Section 16.07 is entitled Transfers of Used Handguns. There are some exceptions of the regulations for used handguns, BUT those exceptions are only for handguns that were both manufactured and sold at a retail level before the enforcement date of the regulations.

So, no, a dealer could not just buy a new gun, fire some rounds through it, sell it as a used gun, and thus bypass the regs.

Ive been pretty amazed at what politicians have been getting away with. From the President on down, it seems that year by year these kind of illegal stunts get more outrageous, people do hardly anything to stop it - and the politicos get bolder. There have been some forum members who voice their opinions somewhat more vehemently than I do on these matters, not to say I don't agree in large part. Ive only been shooting seriously for about 5 years, joined the NRA just in time to see what is happening. This country is still one of the greatest, but it is still in bad shape.

used hand guns made before june of 1998 are ok to sell. Some Glock stock dealers are hoping that glock sells them there trade-in
