Glocks without Gen #

I went into a gun store today and handled several Glocks. I think 17, 26 and and a 40 cal. the size of a 17. None of these guns had the Gen mark on the slide. I think they all said Austria.

What's up with this? Has glock got away from marking them for some reason?

If they had finger grooves on the front strap they were Gen 3, if not Gen 2. Not likely at all but the G17 could be a Gen 1, the G26 and G22 cannot be Gen 1.

Like others have said, Glock never put the generation on the gun itself until the Gen 4. And they currently make both the Gen 3s and the Gen 4s. So if these were new guns, they were definitely Gen 3s.

Odd but these were all brand new guns selling for something like $569.00

Then they were Gen 3s, as people above have said.

And they were overpriced.

The last gun store I walked into had Gen 3 17s, 26s, and 22s for $495.

I had a glock model 20 made in about 2010/2011 that said " gen 3" right after the "20" on the side of the slide opposite the ejection port toward the muzzle.

Not to be political but I think the current election is making them fly off the shelves. I visited anther one of my favorite stores that day to see if they had a g26 in and they were down to Hipoints and Taurus. That is if you didn't want a shotgun or rifle.

A coworker was going to pick up a 17 from the local gander mountain for just a hair over $500 I think and he said that the shipment got there that morning and that by noon when he got there all the glocks were gone.

To an extent it depends on where you are. Near me the stores have very full shelves. As for the panic, we haven't seen anything yet. I don't doubt it will get nuts.

I've never seen a Glock that had any Gen but Gen 4 written on the slide. Any chance you have a picture? Not that I don't believe you, but it's always possible you're mis-remembering. I know I've done that plenty of times before.

I did a Google image search and I couldn't find any pictures of Gen 3 Glocks with "Gen 3" written on the slide. So if they do exist, they're definitely rare.

Either way, the OP was definitely seeing new (and overpriced) Gen 3 Glocks, which don't have any Gen written on the slide.

Uh oh, Glock won't be happy about that. MAP is $499 and they don't like it when dealers price under MAP. That's why we sell our regular 9mm and .40 Gen 3s for $499.

Yup.;)

I havent seen any gen 3 marked guns either, I also would like to see a pick. We have a fair selection of Glocks here as well, not sure the political rush has started yet.

Thank God for the free market. Actually, they were $494.99

Not sure where you are, but here all varieties of Glocks are plentiful in just about every gun store (small or big-box) that you walk into. And prices are about the same as they have been for a few years now.

That's not to say things won't get stupid when Hillary gets elected. But by now, we should know to expect such things.
