Glocks vs other striker fired pistols

I like Glocks, I shoot them well (by my humble standards) and have never had a moment's problems with them but I've never been crazy about the ergonomics. What other striker fired, double stack auto loaders do you recommend I try?

Thanks

Sig 320, PPQ , and the already mentioned VP9. Those 3 are imho the top striker fired pistols you can have. Great ergo's, and really good triggers. You won't find anything better.

M&P9c, I really liked my my Glock 26 but the M&P felt a little better. I enjoyed the compact more than the full size M&P. That applies to the .40 offerings in each as well.

Lots of great choices in SF these days. Walther PPQ and HK VP9 are a couple of my favorites though I still love shooting my Glock 19 too even with the "2x4" grip. ;)

SIG P320, M&P, and XD(M) are certainly worth checking out also.

As always it is best to try and rent and fire whatever you are considering.

another vote for Springfield XD.

Too quote a friend "It's like the fixed everything that's wrong with a Glock" (I didn't say it. A friend said it. So don't flame me for it)

Although, the VP9 is pretty sweet.

Thanks. I'll check out the XD and the M&P both were on my radar but I'm in intrigued about the H&K VP9. I've owned a USP but I've never even heard of the VP9. How is it different? Is it basically a striker fired version of the USP series?

Unscientific test is unscientific...

There is so much variable, that I find tests like that to be less than valid.

You could do that test with a bunch of pistols, and on one, you just happen to get junk in it farther or in a different area than the others... not due to a fault in the pistol design, but due to the random nature of things.

Even if you drop your pistol in dirt, it's not likely to be hit with the same level of gunk as these tests will do to it.

for the record, HK came out with polyemer framed striker fire before Glock.

This hearkens back to the old HK's before the USP days.

I really like the PPQ, VP9, P320, M&P, FNS, and the XD series.

The PPQ trigger is absolutely fantastic for an out of box striker.

The VP9 trigger is very good, not as nice as the PPQ, but shorter pull, and I prefer the grip and mag release. The pistol is basically a P30 in striker form BTW. (Since you were unfamiliar with the pistol)

The P320 is another with a very good out of box trigger, very Sig 226 like in feel when shooting it, as it's very smooth.

The M&P ergos are great, but the stock trigger is less than stellar... it's passable at best... but put in an Apex tactical kit in it, and the trigger is exceptional for a striker, heck it's good for a quality hammer fire trigger.

The FNS is nothing like a glock in ergos and feel, but very Glock like as far as the trigger goes... but I think it's improved over a stock Glock trigger, more like a Glock with a bit of work done.

The XD has a good trigger, and good ergos.. a good all around'er, but I think some other pistols on the list are better overall.

I have a Ruger SR40C and it is the only .40S&W i own and it has great ergos and a great trigger. But i really love my EDC a G17 gen 4. I have shot (limited ) The FNS9C , Sig P320, Walther PPQ and the HK VP9. They are all great to shoot with . The only model I did not like was the P320 Sub Compact. Not everyone can get comfortable with the Glock grip angle. But I find the G17 gen 4 without a backstap the perfect size for me.
