Glock vs Walther P99QA vs P7? Opinions?

Bill, an excellent question, but IMO, these are two totally different guns, both are outstanding in terms of reliability, quality, and accuracy. I would make my decision based on what the intended purpose is, and which one you feel is more comfortable and that you shoot better.

For instance, if you have young children in the house, the P7 is probably the better bet. If you prefer something lighter for carry, the P99 is the way to go.

"However, unless you have STRONG hands to hold the cocking lever down, you'll probably want something else. My hands aren't strong, and I found that during firing, my hand would (involuntarily) relax, rendering the gun inoperable."

Interesting.....it only takes about a pound of pressure to hold in the lever....I would think if strenght was in issue, it would be in the actual cocking (12-14 pounds)...I suspect your hands are plenty strong enough...you probably just loosened your grip enough to let the lever disengage....either way...whatever works for everyone.....

I bought a P7M8 on Christmas Eve. I've probably put 400 rounds through it so far. I thought the above quote was the best point made in this thread so far. It DOES take some getting use to. I'm NOT there yet. And the gun gets very hot, very quickly.

My two biggest drawbacks to the gun so far.

my 2 cents

For carry I tote the G27.
All 4 of these pistols are very reliable.
The P99 has a very nice reset,it lets out about a 1/3 of the way then stops and is ready to fire.
The Glocks can reset the same, but won't stop at 1/3 back out, will go all the way back if you let it.When I shoot the Glocks I have to remind myself 1/3 stroke reset and pull trigger. The reset definetly improves your grouping when you reset with the short stroke. You can feel it click when it resets.
Theyre both (Walther and Glock) really accurate.
I'd hate to have to drop some one and have the PD confiscate the $600 Walther, the $450 Glock would be a little easier to swallow.
I've shot nearly 10k rounds through the 4 of them,no problems to mention, shoots anything I put through them haven't shot Wolf, and don't care too.
Walther lowered their prices nearly $150 on the P99 line, more in line with the other dogs,Kahr,Glock,S&W,Tauraus,Beretta and the likes.I just bought mine to early.SAFE-SHOOTING!
