Thanks Spats. Both are on my watch list. I really like the gen4 with the night sights. Next time I want a new gun I will put you on the hunt.:D Ya did good.:)

^^ I enjoy both bargain hunting and spending someone else's money! :D

For what it's worth, I've got ~2k rounds through my Gen 4 G19. While I have considered trading her off, I have to admit that she's a workhorse. From what I know (which isn't that much), either Gen 3 or 4 will serve you well.

This may be the best deal of all since it comes with three magazines.

The extra magazine is nice, but shouldn't be what seals the deal.

Glock OEM magazines are relatively inexpensive, and there are well regarded aftermarket magazines available now for even less. (Magpul.). "Korea Military" KCI even less (but budget for a spring change).

Picked up Gen 4 G35 refurb last year for $505 and gun looked new inside and out! So far after many rounds no issues!

when i bought my G19 Gen4, it was a Factory Refurbished, and i happened to be at my old LGS picking up some stuff and they had a couple G19's new ones was $599, and the refurbished was $499, and one of the guys who i had gotten to know pretty well, was like just a fyi, the refurbished one goes to Glock, and get's looked over and get's a full make over... and still has a full factory warranty, and it's 100$ cheaper..

so i bought it Jan 2016? and still havent had a single issue...

I have read and considered all the advice given here. Thank you for your insight. Some have suggested just going new since there is not that much difference in price. Thats actually a good idea.

I went Academy yesterday and they have new Gen 3s for $499 + tax of course. Gen 4s were just a little more. Buds has the Gen 3 for $506 with free shipping and $25 transfer when it gets here. So all I have to do is make up my mind about what I want.

While at Academy I looked at the S&W SD9 that is an Academy exclusive. I really like that gun and at $349 its a fair deal. They sometimes run those on sale for $300. If they had of been on sale for that price yesterday I would have bought it no questions asked.

I already have a perfectly good SD9VE that has never had the slightest bobble in function. Plus I have 4 factory mags and the mags fit the SD9. I took a mag in the store and tried it out. And one of the really big benefits to the S&W guns is that they will shoot lead bullets while you are advised not to use lead in a Glock. I like lead. Its cheap practice.

I'll say this again, look at slickguns.com. I know you can get a SD9VE for cheaper and I've seen new Gen 3 Glocks for $440. Whether or not it still makes sense after the transfer fee and shipping I can't guarantee, but there are a lot of online retailers out there.

Thanks TunnelRat but your link doesn't work. Also the SD9 is not the same gun as the SD9VE. I have one of those already.

I posted a link to GB with a Gen 3 factory refurb for the same price. So at this point I am still kicking tires and thinking. No real hurry on my end. I just wanted to know what yall thought of the factory refurbs.

As a general proposition, I don't have a problem with them. It seems a little safer than buying used, just because it's been factory refurbed. At the same time, when the refurb price gets too close to a new pistol, getting the refurb stops making a lot of sense. (Please bear in mind, though, that I've never actually bought a factory refurb gun. Everything I've ever bought was just plain "new" or "used.")

It is my understanding that Glock-refurbished guns, while used, are inspected with any worn parts replaced -- and receive the same warranty as a new gun. I tried to get a definitive answer on this point, and see them advertized as "refurbished with NEW warranty", but nothing directly affirming that from Glock. (I may not have looked in the right places.)

If it is refurbished and comes with a new warranty, what's not to like? That gun is, for all intents and purposes, a new gun, Once you've shot your "new" Glock for a round or two, it's esesentially no better, unless it is a newer generation gun with some new features you want.
