Which one of these features bug you the most or has prevented you from buying one of these products?

I know gun manufacturers cannot please everyone, but they shouldn't ignore us completely either!

Disclaimer: All the listed manufacturers make great products, but we are allowed to be demanding.

Glock plastic sights bother me the most. For the price, they should come with their steel sights. They cost, what, $30? There is absolutely no reason they should allow combat/duty style pistols to leave the factory with plastic sights.

A lot of us actually like the paddle magazine release on the HKs. I did not think I would at first but it did not take long to love them. My Walthers have them too. ;)

Ruger's love of magazine disconnect safeties kept me from buying one. I don't think they look that bad though.

Magazine disconnects and sights are simple and easy to change. Those parts which are integral, like the XD grip safety are the deal breakers for me.

So far only excellent comments have been posted, keep them coming. If I insulted one of your pistols, do not take it personally. It's only my opinion, please do not send me any computer viruses :)

MarkCO, I completely agree. And that is why I still buy Glocks. All my sights get changed out for night sights anyway. And I know that's how it is for many of us enthusiasts, but for most gun owners, I don't think that's the case. They buy a gun and a holster and carry it, or throw it in the night stand. They keep the stock sights in it. If Glock would just put those cheap steel sights in them from the factory, they'd never have to worry about the plastic ones breaking or flying off.

Glocks sights are offensive considering how much profit they built into their product. I'd really rather they gave me steel...

I can't say any of these really bother me that much. Sights are easy enough to change and I typically change those out. Safety features that I don't want someone else might. Looks are subjective. M&P triggers have come a long way and even while they were getting there we had APEX (frankly the most recent ones I've owned didn't really "need" APEX parts either). This isn't me saying you're wrong. This is me saying that I like that we have a market where there are options for all tastes.

P.S. - I like the paddle release :p

Glock plastic sights.
HK paddle magazine release
Ruger semi-autos = ugly
Springfield XD, XDM, XDS grip safety.
Smith & Wesson M&P "just ok" trigger.

None of the above. I own 3 out of the 5 examples. And I actually like the XD's grip safety.

If they are going to give me crappy sights I'd prefer they give me the cheapest plastic sights they can. Steel sights would just make that box of junk accessories in the back of one of my closets a little bit heavier. Like Savage used to do with their polymer stocks. I wouldn't mind if Glock knocked $10 off the price and shipped without. I doubt most who kep the stock sights even know they are plastic or care.

I'm not real familiar with the HK mag release, but Walther P22s use a similar system and I liked it quite a bit when I had one.

Ruger has a lot I don't like about their semi-autos up to the American, which could still use some refinement. Magazine disconnect is non-sense, but as stated supposed to be easy to disable.

Not a fan of grip safeties, but one of the less intrusive safeties IMO.

In the case of safeties it bothers me more I need to pay for something that isn't adding any value to my purchased item.

Triggers... Since these are mass produced defensive weapons I don't expect much. If you want a light target trigger you are going to need some aftermarket parts or work. I get by without.

Hey thanks for the opportunity to vent.

Yet you listed none of what has bugged me.....

Glock: Their trigger safety should be shaped to match the rest of the trigger when fully depressed, like Springfield does .

Beretta: Should have a lot more decocker-only offerings, if they are going to persist with pushing DA/SA guns.

HK: Dug a stupid trench in the base of the trigger guard on the VP, which pinches the trigger finger unless you consciously put your finger high on the trigger, which you shouldn't have to do....

I don't mind HK's mag release, it's the Walther one that's truly terrible, fixed with their M2 version of the PPQ.

Ruger simply isn't building its guns as well as they used to, or designing them as well. I have had to return two SRs, an LCR, and ditched an LC9 after I decided not to return YET ANOTHER gun to Ruger....

I like the XD/XDm grip safety. Adds to prevention of inadvertent discharges in unconventional carry situations.

Mosin44az, I can't believe I forgot to mention Beretta. Vent away, I thought this would be a good topic to discuss.

I kinda like stock Glock sites. I've never had one break, or even become loose. I've never even worn the front site from repeated holster drills. As for Springfield and their grip safety...why wouldn't someone like that? I'd rather have that than any of the thumb safeties.

I voted for the Glock plastic sights - not because that stops me from purchasing a Glock. But only from the perspective that they should be steel.

I've never shot a Glock or Hk - love my Rugers and Smiths.

The only one I can really check off is the grip safety on the Springfield. When looking for a smaller 9mm to switch off to for carry at times, I looked at Glock - liked it but delivery was iffy. Looked at Kimber and Springfield as well as Smith Shield - for side by side (the dealer had a Glock that was sold but he wanted me to look at it anyway). The one I eliminated immediately was the Springfield and that was directly due to the grip safety. Maybe just a "personal" thing but I just didn't care for it. Many do like 'em though so chalk it up to everyone likes different things.

My Ruger and my Smith are flawless and eat anything I feed them - mostly my lead reloads that I cast and put together.
