Glock grip reduction- has anyone done it?

I have to wonder what Glock was thinking when they put that big hump in the grip. The ARS grip reduction idea looks like an interesting solution, but it is pretty radical (link below). I don't have a problem with functional and ugly, but the improvement in function would have to be fairly substantial for me to maul the grip like that. Has anyone had this work done? How do you like it?

I had ARS reduce my G19 grip in October. Very nice work. Huge difference in the grip. It's so nice my wife has since liberated my 19 as her carry pistol. Good people to work with too!:D

I'm sorry, I can't help myself, I went to the ARS site and looked at the modified guns....GAWD..are those things ugly!!!

DO IT!

I had ARS reduce my (sold now) M20; excellent workmanship, low price, immediate turn-around time, and still VERY STRONG.

Recommend.

YUK!

Aren't Glocks ugly enough already?

STOP THE FOOLISHNESS

Who cares how a Glock looks? I mean really, who cares?

If you care you have entirely too much free time.

When you're gripping your reduced Glock looking over the sights it will appear beautiful............

The idea of giving Glocks liposuction where it will help is a good one, but those are the ugliest end results imaginable. I wonder if the artist is a former plastic surgeon (due to lawsuits, etc.)?

I know, they are butt ugly. But there's got to be some way that they can do the grip contour stuff and then re-texture it the way that Glock did. That would make it look a lot better.

Th G30 that I'm considering doing this to, is the one that I used to "beautify" my hand with, so I might return the favor and mangle the grip. Who knows, maybe we'll both be deformed but more functional. Besides as C.R. Sam indicated, Glocks have never been known for their good looks, only brutal efficiency...unlike me. :D

Thats not entirely true. ARS and another company are authorized by Glock to make the alterations. The warranty is only voided if the reduction is the direct cause of the failure. Supposedly, these modifications have been done to a lot of Glocks and there haven't been any problems.

From the ARS website (I'll admit that it doesn't say free repair though):

[ARS will modify your Glock grip to decrease the overall circumference and change the grip angle to a flat style (like a Colt 1911 with flat main spring housing). This smaller and more comfortable grip makes it easier to reach the magazine catch, shortens the distance to the trigger, gives you more natural sight alignment and better recoil control, mitigates potential slide-bite on large hands, and improves accuracy potential through a smoother trigger press. This modification does not affect any moving parts and is widely accepted by law enforcement agencies. It makes the weapon safer by giving you more control. Glock has stated "We will continue to service and repair all Glock pistols regardless of what after-market product has been fitted to the pistol."]

A grip reduction isn't an "after-market product has been fitted to the pistol," it is a chemical alteration of the reciever. Unless you have someting in writing from Glock my warning stands.
