Glock G20sf

Although I haven't seen the factory documentation firsthand, it's been widely reported by Glockophiles that "SF" formally stands for "Short Frame", although some factory reps apparently throw around the term "Slim Frame" interchangeably.

Pick up a 40 barrel and shoot factory 40 if you don't reload. And 40 brass is cheap if you want to load up a few thousand rounds in advance compared to 10mm brass.
+1; it should be mentioned that one of the big pluses of the G20/G21 platform is the availability of conversion barrels for just about any commonplace (and reasonably high-powered) auto-pistol cartridge in existence, along with some cool wildcats. :)

On a related note... although I don't want to start an extended thread hijack, some people have shot .40S&W out of stock-barreled, unconverted G20's with success, but IMHO this course of action fits under the "Not Necessarily Unsafe, But Not Smart, So I Won't Do It" heading. The cartridge will headspace off the extractor, which may result in extractor damage, which may in turn cause excessive headspace, failures to extract, and/or failures to fire.

SF means Special Forces. Glock 20 Special Forces

Sounds impressive, but sf has nothing to do with Special Forces. It stands for short frame.

The GLOCK 20SF, in 10mm AUTO, provides nothing short of massive firepower. The use of GLOCK hi-tech polymer considerably reduces felt recoil. With muzzle energy of 550 ft/lbs and a magazine capacity of 15 rounds, this 10mm is your reliable companion on every hunt. The G29 also provides a safe and accurate finishing shot, even when hunting big game. The SF model reduces the circumference of the receiver at the rear, or "backstrap," offering increased comfort and control—especially to shooters with smaller hands.

Or a 9X25 Dillon barrel for a real hot rod that the 35: Sig only wishes it could be!:D

The Danes and Norwegians use them for backup guns to their rifles when in bear country. They have some heavy duty round and an extended barrel. BUT it is not a primary - it's for when Sven and Olaf are in deep what the bear does in the woods.

So you're telling me that all this time when I thought I had the glock special forces equivalent of the p226 navy, it is just a gun made for people who have little hands?! I will never buy another glock

Well, that explains the green beanie-like hat that come with the gun!

It was too small.
Small frame gun, hence it comes with a small hat. It's for small commandos, er, compact tactical operators. ;)

What? I didn't get an official Special Forces beanie with mine! Now I feel neglected.
Newsflash: I believe that the Special Forces hat y'all refer to as a "beanie" is properly known as A BERET. :p

Yes. Perhaps wearing a beret will make you feel more elite. ;)

Now back to our regular scheduled programming... :D

Honestly, if you can find a deal on a 20sf, go for it. With 300 blk beginning more popular, you'll find more deals in the future, than you would today. I say this as someone who is currently building a 300 blk upper.

Ok...thanks for all the info guys.....change of plans now....my wife decided she wants to start deer hunting and she bought her a Browning X-bolt. Sadly in pink camo ....ughhhh....the fact that my wife wants to start deer hunting makes me proud though. I spent my Glock 20 SF money on her a Leupold vx-r 3-9 scope to go on top. Hey, I love my wife. What can i say? She's a good gal. I spent my Christmas money on her so I will just have to wait on the Glock.....oh well...sigh

Hey Carguychris, don't get your shorts in a twist! Or do you have an official term for underwater too? They were tongue-in-cheek comments about sf meaning Special Forces. Nobody got a green "beanie"! :D:D:D

that's my thinking as well badger....i had my hopes up though for Christmas..haha...oh well....life moves on...Definitely Glock 20sf in the near future

Is that a 1:8 twist or a 1:9 twist? ;)

It's all in good fun. :D

* * * A .357 Magnum revolver covers the roles a 10mm does (maybe not as well (maybe), * * *

Not really. Aside from the obvious capacity gap between the wheelgun & the G20 autoloader (15+1 v. 6 or, possibly, 8), the 10mm simply pushes a larger diameter and heavier bullet faster (200+gns/.40cal).

Moreover, while the wheelgun crowd likes to talk a good game about their .357 "carry" revolver, in reality most people who actually tote a .357 Magnum on their hip (like some of the retired and/or off-duty cops I know) carry the 2" or 3" uber-light weight snubbies. They're not carrying .357s with 8" barrels which normally would be able to leverage the benefit of magnum ballistics.

Real 10mm ammo fired from the G20's 4.6" barrel (or even the longer 6" tubes that are readily available) will provide superior ballistics for defensive purposes against the 4-legged, and certainly the 2-legged, predators that one might encounter while hiking, backpacking, camping, etc.

* * * but honestly, why don't you have a 12ga with slugs in the first place), and allows for other uses, such as those allowing for the cheaper and more common .38Spl. * * *

That's exactly why you carry a handgun on you ... for those times when a long gun simply isn't within your immediate reach, or wasn't necessarily convenient - or even legal - to take with you.
