GLOCK BASHING

WESHOOT2,

How in the heck do you put $1000 of mods into a Glock? Amazing. Maybe thats why you didnt end up liking it. Glocks are pretty much best used as close to virgin as possible. (untouched) Trijicons $95, possible steel guide rod and spring set $30, butt plug $10, I wouldn't go any further.

Dex,

It was easy.

Besides, with it being my 13th handgun I had a fair idea what MY pistol might require.....and I tried it all along the way before adding the next $tep.......and I've fired a considerable number of Glocks in most configurations.

Arizona Response Systems grip reduction (well worth it),
Heinie/Millett/MMC sights (liked the MMC rear the best by far), Jarvis barrel hard-fit by the man himself, titanium striker, trigger parts (ended up with an almost 1911--feeling trigger!?! almost), and some other $tuff that escapes me now.

Accurate, but ultimately very unsatisfying.

Guess it's the way the plastic gun 'felt', just not pleasing.
I don't care about looks/brand/'cachet'/country of origin/color/cost; all I care about is reliability and do I like it.

I don't 'like' Glocks (no bashing here, just my personal preference. Never met a plastic gun I liked.)

And Dex, I'm not even talking about leather, all the hi-caps I acquired, or the Grams bottoms (oooh, 19 + 1 of 10mm!).

Know what I mean?

I have a friend who hates Glocks (he carries a compact Kimber), and EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail, over and over again, that I mention my Glock pistol to him only, or in the presence of others, he says loudly, in a very indignant and sarcastic tone "It's a PLASTIC gun!", which it implies I suppose to him "It's a POS". Funny though that I lent him a Glock 27 awhile back. After he shoots it, he says "You're not getting it back", and he buys it from me. Not sure why he still must malign the Glock. I suppose some people view aesthetics as an integral or indispensable part of a gun, whereas I do not.

Next time he goes into his anti glock act, ask him to return the platic pos he has tucked on his person in a loud sarcastic voice and show him publicly to be the hipocrit he is. I wouldn't trust a 'friend' like that. I hope you don't have to.

This type of "bashing" is what tore apart the car enthusiasts-"My Chevelle is the greatest and your GTO is junk ". That type of thing. In the mean time, all types of laws were being passed trying to get rid of the collector cars. Same thing is happening to us.The important thing is that we are all firearms enthusiasts. A little teasing is fun, though. My 2 cents.

An observation from the thread, "best & most disappointing pistols". Of the 47 replies before closing, 7 mentioned a Glock model as their 1st, or runner-up, choice for most disappointing. Most of that negative input concerned poor reliability. Just shy of 15% criticism about Glocks, intetesting.:0 :)
