Glock 43

Lots of people carry revolvers that have five or six rounds.

Having more rounds available usually just contributes to the spray and pray mentality, rather than making every shot count.

Back to the topic of this thread...the G43 really isn't that small. But it is a good gun, and it has the Glock brand and reliability behind it.

I just ordered a pancake holster for the Glock 43. I love slender guns, and I hate IWB hoslters.

That may be true of some people, I suppose, but it certainly isn't universal. There are other ways to overcome that mentality than restricting capacity.

Glad you are enjoying that G43, though. It has a lot going for it. I'm just not of the mindset to think of decreased capacity as an asset.

My reason for not considering the Glock 29 mid-size is the grip. Its not exactly scientific, but the ability to fit my entire hand on the grip comfortably is what I think of when going from a subcompact to a compact/mid-size. My pinky is left hanging on the Glock 29, so I consider it subcompact. I would be happy with everything else on the gun dimension wise, but I want to be able to get a full handed grip on the gun.
I agree with you on the pinkie problem every single bit of 100%, that's why all of my magazines run a Pearce Grip extension, merely a +0 floor plate replacement. It is a $10 piece of plastic from Pearce and besides the fact that it -TRANSFORMS- the feel and fit of the handgun, I find that this little piece of plastic makes Glock just look completely stupid. I cannot possibly imagine a tiny little piece that should -MORE SO- be factory equipment on the pistol in the history of EVER. They way that Pearce designed it with the little square checkering, it even looks for all the world like a factory installed part of the pistol.

The difference in feel is more than night & day. It's like night & the end of the following week.

Apologies for the thread drift--
But similarly on the topic of the G43 and the two different magazine floor plates... arrrrgh! I can't imagine EVER wanting the flat based one over the lightly extended one, but it seems completely obvious to me that Pearce Grip will also have floor plates for this new pistol on scene quickly and they will most likely be better than either of the two that Glock ships.

For such a brilliantly successful gun maker, some things they elect to do seem silly to me.

Got to shoot one today!

My local Houston gun range, Top Gun, got a brand new one in their rental fleet today, so I had to try it out!

Overall, a nice weapon. A bit on the small size for oversized paws, but fits smaller hands nicely. Typical Glock sights, manageable recoil and quite accurate at short and mid ranges. Pretty "snappy" but not out of control, with a decent trigger. Short take up with good clean break. Trigger tends to "bite" your trigger finger...not sure why, but I shot 7 other 9mm weapons today (2 Sigs, H&K, Hi Power, CZ75, PPQ, Shield) and none of them "bit me" like this one. Tried different trigger finger positions, but same problem with all of them. Hmmm.....it's a mystery, but it sure began to hurt after awhile!

Similar in width and weight to the Shield, but shorter grip and has a bit of a "porky" feel....again, not atypical for a Glock. Fired about 100 rounds of different 9mm ammo without a single issue. Fed and fired everything!

I enjoyed the experience, but actually preferred the Shield. The 43 will be quite popular as it is a very nice weapon in a well designed and totally reliable package! Nice pistol!

Texasbobby, thanks for sharing your experience with the 43' I have a Sig P 938 and a P238 and love both for shooting and carrying. I also bought a Glock 42 which creates conflict with the 238 as I like both and both are super easy to conceal, now if I go for the 43 I create the same dilemma with the P 938. Decisions, decisions. Oh, I gorgon my Bodyguard...it is terrible to like firearms so much you end up with dozens to fill perceived need!

IBMikey,

Sooooo True! You can never have enough really great pistols, eh?

My wife asks me "How many do you have now? Do you even know?"

That's when I usually remember something "really important" that I need to be taking care of in another room! Ha ha!

Got to handle one and take the slide off of it yesterday.

Not bad. Now my Glock 26 is going nowhere... I still use it daily but in real hot Texas summer days, were t-shirt and shorts are it. I plan on a 43 with IWB and the spare mag on a horizontal mag pouch.

And I presume Pearce will make a 1 shot extension, cause I plan on it having 8 rounds and seven in the spare mag.

And then my old favorite S&W 640 Centennial I've used since day one of the CHL here in Texas, I'll finally retire to it's place with the S&W 64 snub that was my second CCW gun (for winter use.)

Deaf

My G26 isn't a problem to carry. If I need smaller then I reach for my P938 that is smaller in every way compared to the G43 with that same capacity and caliber.
