Glock 42 yes or no?

I got the chance to shoot a glock 42 the other day. I was actually impressed with it. Thinking about purchasing one. Was wondering about the reliability. Is it as reliable as other glocks?

thanks

I have seen thru searching websites that the early ones are not as reliable as newer ones. They changed some parts in them. Is this true?

I have no personal experience with it, so take everything I write with the appropriate level skepticism, but I've read it's a bit more ammo sensitive than the larger Glocks (possibly due to the difficulties of engineering a locked-breech recoil system at that size), but it still feeds most rounds reliably and is as durable as ever.

I have light strikes on freedommunitions ammo. other ammo I have tried works fine though. thats my 2 cents

I've been well pleased with mine.

Love mine

It's been reliable with everything I stuffed in it. To me, it's the perfect "goldilocks gun". Small enough for easy concealment, but big enough that it's fun and easy to shoot. My LCP carries easier in the pocket, but 50 rounds thru it and I'm done. I can spend the day at the range with the 42!

Do a search. Plenty of problems with early ones and some re-designed parts/mags. Occasional reports of problems with current production also. Said to be very ammo sensitive.

So, it looks like it will be the street price of a Gen 3 26, but will probably sell for more than MSRP for a while. And, taller than a 26?

I've had mine for about a year now, and I find it as reliable as any other semi auto pistol I've ever had.

I thought I was going to jump at the Glock 43 when it came out but I'm now on the fence since I'm so happy with the 42.

I bought a 42 after my buddy expressed total satisfaction with his. I did not need another having a Bodyguard, Sig 238, Walther ppk, Ruger, Keltec and at least thirty other pistols in .380 or 9mm Mak in the safe. However, the interest caught hold and here she is a real ugly Glock that has gobbled everything I have chosen to feed it. The pistol is incredibly easy to shoot, low recoil and quickly is back on target ready for a follow up shot. Not the smallest of packages when compared to the others but is light and snag free if your pocket is rather large. Now out in 9mm and ever so slightly larger, this will be a pair that will not win beauty contests but could save your butt in an emergency.

There should be plenty of used G42s on the market when people dump them for the single stack 9mm G43 they wanted in the first place. There might even be a bunch of used G26s as well.

My son has the G42 and loves it. Keep in mind the G43 in 9mm will have a snappy recoil because of the small size and weight.

Model 42

I have a Model 42 and it is reliable but I can't hardly hit the center of a paper target at 7 yards with it. It is the best to conceal of all of my pistols.
