Glock 30 vs HK USPc vs Sig 245

yes the .45 is bigger while the bullet is still in the case but when the .45 fails to expand from a short barreled pistol like ones you are considering its MUCH smaller than a fully expanded .357sig or 9mm.

good .357sig and 9mm bullets will expand up to about .70 caliber and possibly even higher. and then you look at a .45 that will have a good chance of just staying .45 caliber. now which is bigger?

also the difference is much less than most people think in stopping power. i just decided that i'm gonna get a Glock 19 instead of a .357sig. i heard once that 75% of people shot with a handgun live and 75% of people shot with a longgun (rifle or shotgun) die.
that being said you will outgunned with any handgun so you might as well have one with more rounds and that STILL HAS GOOD STOPPING POWER. 9mm is more than adequate stopping power for almost all situations. i would feel better armed on the streets with a G19 than with a .45 (at least a compact .45).

Have a SIG 220 and HK USP45c and think they're both excellent. Have shot the Glock 30 (used to own a G21), and while it's a fine weapon, it's too fat for normal carry IMHO. Both the 220 and HK carry great (I use a Galco concealable) - they're light, and get on target quickly. You can't go wrong with either one.

This will not help at all, but when I was comparing all of the compact .45's. I found that I liked the 4513 TSW from S&W the best. Its about the same size range as the other guns listed. It fit me well, I liked the control arrangement, and it pointed very naturally.

Then those rotten scumbags sold out, and I will never buy another new Smith again.

I had a Glock 30 and traded it because the grip was too fat for my small hands. The USP Compact 45 fits my hands well and I like the variant 1 controls so I bought one. I don't have any experience with the P245. By the way, the Glock 30 is still in the family so I hope to get it back someday.

Since you want to know, The Rock is going to tell you what works for The Rock.

The Rock HAD a USP40F. Sold it.

Bought a G30. Have it. Love it. Carry it. If The Rock had to pick 1 pistol, this would be it.

The Rock likes Glocks. Reliable and easy as hell to clean.

The only mod on my G30 is some Meprolight night sights.

the g30's ability to accept g21 hc mags make it high on my list. i like the HK but do not feel comfotable w/ the mag release.
the small sig is to long on the slide/ to short on the grip.
for the $$$$ you can buy the glock and 500 rds of IMI 230 gr ammo.

HK 45C: Fragile firing pin. It has a tendency to break if the gun is dry fired. Very hard to get HK to sell you a replacement. The HK 45C is not worth buying because of this problem.

Sig P245: P220 magazines work in the P245, but the gap that the P220 magazines leave
between the mag floorplate and the bottom of the pistol PINCHES your pinky finger. Stick to P245 magazines. (6+1)

Glock 30: Glock's 10 round magazines do not always take 10 rounds. If they do, the fully loaded magazines will not seat in the gun if the slide is CLOSED. Forcing the fully loaded magazine to seat would result in a damaged ejector. Fully loaded magazines need to be inserted from the slide OPEN position (i.e. slide locked back) 10+1 isn't always possible.

More Glock 30: The stock OEM recoil rod/spring causes problems. I recommend replacing it with a two piece Wolff recoil rod/spring set. The Glock 30 is .400 Corbon
ready with a drop in barrel and a Wolff recoil rod/spring set. However, .45 Super is NOT advisable in the Glock 30, so dont even consider it.

I chose the Glock 30. No problems other than the magazine gripe. 6358 rounds fired to date and its still perking along with 100% reliability.

Hey ClownFish-

Ya got me, I'm that little old lady!

Actually I saw a show on A&E that mentioned the book "Hitman" and thought the author's name was a great play on words. "Rex Feral" loosely translated from Latin is "King of the beasts". I used that name for on-line gaming first, and just carried it over to here.

although I don't recall the magazine, within the last 3-4 months, there was an article about a company that specialized in that modification to 45 Super.

Supposed to be really...super.

Can't go wrong with the Glock

I just completed an advanced class from Capt. Jerry McCown of Gunsite. He does not like the HK USP. He calls it a confused action. There was one in the class and the student decided he was going to use it cocked and locked. About half the time when he drew and knocked the safety off he decocked it. Tucson PD is carrying USPs and they hate them. They have been trying to work out a trade in deal with Glock. Jerry also teaches many of the SOCOM teams. He stated that the SOCOM members refuse to carry the Mark 23 pistol. Enough said on the HK. I own five Glocks.

I own both the P245 and the Glock 30. Love 'em both. Not one failure to fire in either. My thoughts...

Glock 30 will work with HiCap 21 magazines, a plus...

Glock 30 = 11 rounds, P245 = 7

Both are relatively big for small .45's, but can be concealed effectively...

Sig P245 has edge in terms of accuracy, but not by much...

Glock has one trigger pull, Sig has conventional DA pull, might be harder to learn for beginners...

Both field strip easily and are joys to shoot...

Hope this helps! :)

Clownfish-
Go with the G30. I own one, but I have also shot the Sig and the HK. I liked the way the G30 felt more so than the others. All 3 are great weapons, I just liked the Glock a little more. By the way if you're thinking about a 357.sig go and get the G32. I own it along with my G30 and it's just about as accurate as the G30. I carry mine as a left-hand backup to the G30. Not a bad carry combo.

The 30 will already shoot the super with a heavier spring 22 or 24 lb
Lone wolf dist will have the 40 super for the 21 and 30 in a couple of weeks.
The corbon shoots great out of the 30.
I use the reg stock 45 barrel tho for carry.
But the 400 corbon is cool.
Jarvis can make u a 10mm barrel for a couple hundred dollars. shoots and exracts flawlessly.
All in all .45-400 corbon-45 super and 40 super and 10mm in one gun. Gee wich one to buy out of the three guns u mentioned,Gee let me think... :)

I've shot both the Sig and the USP in 45 and for me it was the USP hands down.

The safety and slide release on the gun are much more well placed than the Sig, more ergonomic. The Sig is nice and I own both HK's and a newly acquird Sig but the HK's just stand out for me.

I have no idea what the comment "confused action" means that was stated in an above post. It sounds like more of a "confused operator" to me. Any **new** pistol will present some confusion but to label such a fine weapon as the USP as confused sound more like just another personal preference.

As many others have suggested, see how the pistols feel on your hand and decide then. You really can't go wrong with any of the "big 3".
