Glock 30 opinion

Nope, don't want to buy one...already have one!

I've only put perhaps a box of shells through it.....bought it because I thought I really needed one of those plastic guns...I'm more of a 1911 fan....in fact, a huge one.

However, in reading "between the lines" in some of these forums, I've noticed that you guys who seem to know alot more about the Glock than I.....well, you don't think too much of the model 30.

But, I got it because I ONLY shoot 45acp in handguns....nothing else...

So, what's the matter with the 30?

I don't think that assessment's correct. Over on Glocktalk, for example, the G30 is often referred to as the "best Glock" of all. I can say this, I have three Glocks (26, 30, 36) and the 30 is my favorite and probably the one handgun I own (including revolvers) I wouldn't want to lose. It's handy, accurate, and so far (1200+ rounds) flawlessly reliable. Other than having a chunky grip--I find it manageable--what's not to like?

fine so far

Longeyes,

Mine has worked fine so far...not nearly as many rounds as through my customs...but a few boxes and it has worked just fine....I was just reading some threads that seemed not to like the 30 and I was curious....that's all.

Curious. What's the main complaint about the 30? The grip? Too bulky to carry? I bought mine for home defense (including Trijicon night sights). For that it's a hard gun to beat.

I got a Colt Sistema a few months ago. The 1911 is a nice alternative to the Glock, of course, and I've enjoyed shooting it.

If I had, in extremis, to reach for one gun, though, I'm pretty sure it would be the G30. You've got a lot of reliable firepower with that weapon, bottom-line.

I bought mine for the same reason- wanted a plastic wonder gun in .45acp. There are a lot of things to like about the G30, but like many others, I'm not to comfortable with the fat grip, and grip angle. That is why I'm sending it in for a grip reduction for $130 at ARS. I bought the Glock because of functionality, not it's stunning good looks, so the "meltdown" isn't that big of a deal to me. Besides, I've got a "pretty" BHP and 1911 to ogle if I feel the need. The grip modification costs about the same as a set of night sights installed (which I don't want)- so what the heck. I'll end up with a very compact Glock .45acp, and a grip I'm comfortable/familiar with. Works for me.

it's a good shooter.

but owning both, i prefer the g21 at the range.

and the grip could be thinner but still double stack

and the feed ramp angle could be adjusted to feed SWCs.

but i dream

Many Glock fans consider the 30 to be the most accurate Glock made. I enjoyed shooting one, but I prefer the 20 and 29.

I prefer the 21 because it holds more rounds and feels a little better in my hands. However, my carry piece is the 30. YMMV.

Glock 30 is the best Glock.

Well it was til I got my Glock 29. :)
Anyway, the balance and shootability of the two guns is perfect for me. Better than my G17 or G27.

I bought mine for Home Defense as I am not permitted to carry. The 10 round capacity, compact size and durable finish make it ideal for the gun that I do not shoot regularly and generally neglect.

It is ugly and not much fun to shoot, but it serves the purpose it was intended for.

I love my G30. Compact, great accuracy and soft in the recoil department. I use mine for concealed carry and for home defense. It's the one gun that I take out to put on my nightstand every night. In fact it's the only gun I own that I can do that with. At night my water cup sweats, leaving water on the nightstand. Worries about rust?..Not me.

I found out the hard way that a little water will rust a pistol overnight very easily.

I really liked my G30 until I tried a G36. The G30 grip is a little too wide and the entire gun is a little too wide for IWB carry.

My G30 is now up for consignment sale.

no problem with them whatsoever. I've got a G30 and like it a lot. it's very accurate especially for its size, mine's 100% reliable so far and it's recoil is really soft. my only problem with it is that i have smallish hands so the 9mm sized Glocks feel better in my hands and therefore i shoot them better and like them more. if i had bigger hands i'd like the G30 more.

I'm overly satisfied with my Glock 30. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. Most of the BigDawgs at GlockTalk feel the same way.

I know a lot of fellers think it's too fat, and I can understand that. It's not for everyone. But my wife doesn't think it's too fat and her hands aren't large, not even for a woman.

The grip is simply too fat for a CCW. That was my first choice when I bought my Glock some months back. Shot it, loved it. Shot the 26...loved it more. Much easier to conceal without losing any accuracy. No printing worries, and I am not a big fan of "bigger is better." That horse has been beaten senseless.

Best Glock, period, IMNSHO.
Best .45ACP handgun made, for me.

Absolutely reliable.
Maximum "legal" magazine capacity.
Lightweight.
Easy to shoot well.
Accurate. Precise.
Easily concealable.
Comfortable for all day CCW.
The .45ACP cartridge provides an excellent balance between caliber, bullet weight, terminal ballistic effect, and controllability.

How could someone not like that?
