I'm sure it will be fine. I hope it can fill in as back up CCW to my DW CCO. what is slide width on a G23.....I hope under 1"....

Yea does seem like the slide. FWIW it doesn't seem overly thick, as subjective as that is.

Glock 19 Gen 4, hands down.

.40S&W is a no-go.

Of those three I agree with your decision to go Glock 23. If prices were the same I would have gone Glock 19, but at a $140 difference I think it more than makes up for the ammunition price difference to go with the .40. In my area there is only around a $2 difference between 50 rounds of 9mm and 50 rounds of .40, so you don't start losing money until you've went through 3500 rounds. Everyone is different, but I have never hit 3500 rounds on a gun before selling it that wasn't 22lr.

Plus you can always sock a 9mm barrel/magazine in that 23, if someone happens to surprise you with a rail car of 9mm ammo for Christmas.

Me? I'd just swap it for 40.

Some poster said glocks in 40 are too snappy and gave lists of guns 40sw shoots much better with lesser felt recoil. Why some are saying that shooting cartridges of more then 165 grains is not advisable in glocks in 40sw?
