Give your opinion of Taurus in one word

Excellent 1911s
Everything else I have seen with the Taurus bull on it was troublesome
in some way or another.
What Taurus should do is make old guns on which patents have expired but are still loved.
They should QUIT trying to design now one. They are not any good at it.
But they have some new modern machinery and a big plant, so why not bring back guns (like they did with their 1911s) that we all love already?
M-1 Garand.
Krag
M-97 Shotgun.
How about a good M-98 Mauser 1925 vintage sporting rifle.
But they should keep their quality as high as the old guns. If they were to take that basic direction, they would be one of the best sellers in the USA.
As of now, other then the 1911, I won't own a Taurus because most of their guns are
(A) not of high enough quality
(B) defective designs,
(C) all of the above.

This thread does have redeeming value, because it is to the point and helps me assess the overall attitude towards Taurus. It seems that about 75-80% of these responses are negative.

I have owned one, had nothing but problems and will never own another. Just curious if others' experiences were similar.

Based on my personal experience with the 3 Taurus guns that I own the one word would have to be...

I have had zero problems with my Taurus pistols (semi's & revolver).

How many words was that? Did I go over my limit? Why in the world would you limit it to one word if you really wanted to get good info out of this thread? I mean really? I kind of think since you have had a bad experience you don't really care what my experiences are. To be honest I think this was just a way for you to call Taurus garbage.

In one word, inconsistent.

That is shown by one poster saying "good" and another "junk". The problem is they both may be right. Their QC is poor and some guns will be as good as any, while others are nothing but trouble.

Taurus bashing, another subject that comes up regular as clockwork on Internet gunfora. Shall we have another go round of "9 vs. 45"?

Good. Taurus has in the past few years made a better gun than they did in the past. Most of the bashing is from the older taurus guns. I also think some of the bashers dont know what they are talking about and probably have never even owned a taurus.
Mine has functioned without any issues for the past 3yrs. I would put it up against other more expensive guns in reliability and accuracy.
