Georgia Democrats Introduce ‘Assault Weapon’ Confiscation Bill

Might be better to confiscate the cell phones and cars of the flash mob/gang banger kids so they can't organize and commit their crimes..........
I never see a desire to confiscate the car from a felony DUI offender.......
You are hitting that nail right on its head. So much of the gun violence and laws broken are by gang members. I would like to see all of the statistics the libs love to use posted without the gang #'s. Without those #'s, statistics would be far less, showing America is a safe country. I also believe the only reason the dems introduced that law is to make the next restricting law seem like a "common sense" law.

This type of proposed legislation is often symptomatic of an upcoming primary or general election, from incumbents seeing a serious challenge. In this case it's the May 24 Georgia primary.
Press release, canned news conference, and something to claim as an accomplishment.
It was never intended to go anywhere other than the ballot box.

S3779, if you remove the 'gun violence' statistics from Chicago, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia, just those four cities, from the national stats, our country becomes very safe, indeed. Expand that to removing statistics from inner cities across the country, and crime becomes a non-issue politically and in fact for most Americans.

kilimanjaro, total agreement with you. Ashamed I can't find the spreadsheet right now, but in 2013 someone sent me an Excel file from the FBI Unified Crime Reports website.

It listed violent crimes, murder first, based on city and state, along with the populations. It showed rates in terms of murders per 100,000 people.

He removed (if I recall correctly) Chicago and Detroit - not only the murders in those cities but also the population of each city.

Then he recalculated the murder rate for the entire country with those cities gone from the picture.

Came up right close to the rates for most of Western Europe.

Interesting exercise - but only interesting to those willing to look and think.

And (right now) I'm too lazy to recreate his work with more current stats from recent FBI UCR.

That would make "common sense gun laws" actual laws that would go after the gangs, guessing here that is not next on obama's list.

You can not only run those numbers by city, but by county, and precinct within a city, literally isolate the problem down to a few square miles. Inside the zone, total lawlessness and chaos. Outside the zone, perhaps not Mayberry, but a lot closer to Peoria than many people realize.

Within the zone, you can further isolate things down to the fact that about 3% of the total national population is committing about 70% of the homicides.

We all knew this was coming

We all knew this was coming, although many will still try to say "no one is trying to take your guns away". But that's exactly what the have been doing and now it's spreading.

In every instance there will be exemptions for government agents to retain the same weapons we will be banned from buying or possessing under these proposed laws.

In Washington state, background checks on private sales was dead on arrival at the legislature, twice, I believe. It was passed on public initiative driven by the 4 urban counties on Puget Sound.

This bill could be an Initiative in a year or two, very easily. I have no doubt it would pass, given the leftist media and continual propaganda.
