George W. Bush Advances the Liberal Agenda

Could a national Libertarian government...ever work with a population of 295 million?
A Libertarian government will work if the people will. If they will, they get a more reasonable government and liberty. if they will not, they deserve neither.

the LP Platform calls for the abolition of welfare, too. When taken together, they do make sense. Non-working Mexicans won't immigrate in large numbers if they can't get free money from the government for themselves and for their children. And those that do immigrate won't be much of a burden

The abolition of welfare is needed, certainly. Allowing anyone from any country to come here and work is national suicide. Apart from the security aspect, it would swamp us with cheap labor. We do not need any unskilled immigrants coming here at all.

Taking individual LP planks out of context and complaining about them really isn't fair to the LP

What other context is there for "No border or immgration control" - and "amnesty"? It would serve to destroy the traditional national culture in this country, effectively Balkanizing the population - a recipe for disaster. People that have this insane notion of mutliculturalism ought to take a close and studied look at what has happened in europe in the last 30 years.

It would lower the average wage even further than it is now. Flooding us with more cheap labor wouldn't do the average American any good at all.

Then there is the security aspect. How many insurgents and criminals are among this huge number of people? Based on whose data and records are they going to be checked if at all? The corrupt governments of Mexico and other thrid world countries? More insanity.

That said, we should annex the northern part of Mexico so that Mexicans who want our freedoms (what's left of them, at least) can have them without increasing our population density so much.

Good luck.

Libertarianism?

Interesting concept. Perhaps things have gotten bad enough to consider it.

Never happen, though. Never. Did I say never?

As for the war on drugs, it didn't work with alcohol. Laws that protect individual citizens from themselves make no sense IMO. These include pretty much all traditional "vice" laws.

Had we listened to guys like Teddy R. and Ike, things might be better. Oh well. No need to take it too seriously. Nobody is getting out alive, right? Then again, what kind of world and U.S. do we leave to our kids?
