General Questions regarding Keltec p32

The chrome is a good option. I feel that it increases reliability and it also helps eliminate corrosion problems. It also makes a very small, almost toylike gun look a little bigger and more businesslike.

The triggers on the P32's I've tried are long DA type pulls but aren't at all heavy--in fact, if anything, they're a little light for a pocket gun. Light enough that I wouldn't carry one except in a holster.

Ammo choice makes a BIG difference on reliability. I've not heard of problems using Winchester ammo. Other brands can be hit and miss. If your P32 is choking, try a different brand of ammo. Pistols chambered for semi-rimmed cartridges like the 32ACP can be finicky about the type of ammo they like.

Mine has never had a malfunction of any kind.

And, once I got used to the bizarre sights, it's reasonably accurate. More to the point, I can empty it at a 5 yard target as fast as I can pull the trigger (less than 2 seconds?), and then cover the resulting group with my hand.

Just a point of reference: At the range last Sunday, I was able to shoot a full 7+1 rounds out of Thelma's P32 at a full-size "green man" shilouette target 12 yards away, and keep them all in the thoracic area. A couple of lung shots, a couple in the liver and kidneys, and (skill or luck?) one right through the heart. This was "rapid aimed fire". Not shooting for tight groups, but for practical impact, which we got. Mister Mugger would certainly be hurting based on that performance.

Our P32 is easy to shoot; the trigger pull is long but light and smooth, and the gun has not had a hangup in about 400 rounds, since the factory worked it over to fix a failure to extract problem. I would not call it a POS by any means, regardless of price. The cost is low because Kel-Tec CNC uses very modern, efficient machinery to make them.

The P32's size and weight make it easy to carry anywhere without a lot of fuss. I just slip it into my waistband, held by the clip, and go. IMHO, at the street price of $200 - $230 it's a bargain. A POS is never a bargain in the long run no matter how low the price.

Early Serial number Kel-Tec P32

As a holster maker for mainly "pocket holsters", I was very interested in the P-32. I was looking every where to buy, at any cost. At a gun show in Bradenton, Fl, I saw my first one, just lying there for anyone to purchase, at a very reasonable price [at that time], of $265. I nailed it!
Well, on to the subject of the post, it was Serial number 010x, a very early issue. I have used it to mold about a jillion holsters off of and it doesn't look that bad today, it has been carried daily for approx two years, or whatever time they have been available. I have fired about six or seven mags full thru the little devil. My targets were tin cans, paper targets, dirt banks and I have hit most of them :) .
I have had very few failures of any type, most were failure to feed, [new gun problems], which worked out very quickly.

I will never sell this gun as I have full confidence in it, I only have to do my part.

There was a used one on the market for about 2 minutes. An old friend who is visiting from the Peoples Rebublic of Kalifronia chcecked mine out and we made a deal (I'll go to the my gunshop tommorrow and replace it) God bless diversity.

I always thought they were cheaply made and overpriced. After this thread---maybe I'll go give 'em another look.

This post made me a senior member----Does that mean I'm supposed to actually know something now????

I have been looking for one awhile. Just bought one for 239$ Have to wait to shoot it because of the State's waiting period but can't wait.

The dealer sold me .32 Speer gold dot for self defense and Magtec for target practice.

Any opinions on this ammo for the P32?

excellent thread!

My biggest problem now is that I just have to settle down and be patient. Sometimes I want things such as this so bad, that I just rush right out and get the first one I see (cost be damned!).

BTW - has anyone ever dealt with doing a FFL transfer? Is it a total pain in the neck, or if I could find a p32 for the right price (i.e. cdnn investments), would it be worth my time to give it a go?

thanks for all of the excellent advice!

The serial numbers are MUCH higher now. Mine, that I just bought, is in the 51XXX range. So, I guess they've made a bunch recently.
