About a week ago I purchased my first Gen 4 Glock, a Glock 26. I haven't got out to shoot it yet, but in dry firing I have noticed the grip to be... abrasive.

Ah, so you did find one.

Have to travel far for it?

I don't think I've ever held another pistol that had a grip that seemed so unfriendly to the hand. It's not so much that it hurts to grip it for long periods of time, but it leaves the waffle pattern imprinted in my hand for awhile.

Like I said I haven't shot it yet, but I can only imagine that being worse while firing rounds through the gun. I don't really want to sand it down but I suppose that is an option

Talon rubberized grip. That way you don't hurt the resale value of it too badly. (Since it sounds like you're not totally thrilled with your new purchase.)

Not far at all. I was lucky enough that Mike Marney happened to get me one within a week of me asking him about it.

Not thrilled yet, but I haven't shot it. If I still don't like it after shooting then I'll probably check out the Talon grip. It's probably the most common recommendation for a Glock grip modification.

As a left handed shooter my options in the G26 size range are pretty limited. The Glock isn't even fully ambidexterous, but it's good enough as I don't use the slide lock/release anyways. I want it to work out for me so I'll do what I have to within reason to like it.

The Gen 4 grip is what finally brought me into the Glock platform. I still remember how that Gen 4 G19 melted into my hand the first time I fondled one. I couldn't believe how much difference there was in the Gen 3 & 4 grips.

I carry my G26 daily and it doesn't rub my skin at all. Very comfy to shoot!

Depends on your hands I guess. I love and have always loved the grip and texture. Now 500 rounds might be pushing it if you are not used to it, but hey, do you go run 10 miles in your brand new Nike's - no way!!

You gradually get into it breaking in the shoe and adjusting to the slightly new feel of the shoe. That's the way it goes.

I have 3rd and 1 4th, but planning adding another 4th gen.

I used a finger nail file on the top edge of the grip to soften it. I didn't like the way it rubbed on my thumb. Other than that, I like it.

I am O.K. with it but hands are different. If you are issued one and hate it then hopefully they will let you put one of those sleeves on it.

No it is a gun I purchased by choice as a concealed carry weapon. Initially I was not used to aggressively textured grips, and found it to be uncomfortable. Now after I have dry fired it extensively, it's starting to become a non-issue.

I had tried to like Glock 10MMs before generation 4 and found the grip was simply too big. I did not try a SF version.

Lohman, you really should try to get your mitt around that SF version. It makes such a difference that once I found those, I ended up with multiple Glocks in .45 and 10mm. My favorite is the Glock 30S. The compact models fit me best and the slim slide of the 30S is delightfully lighter and better balanced.

Oh, and I voted for liking the 4th Gen texture. And I agree that the FNS is very aggressive with the texture.
