Gen 4 Glock 19 failures

I'm not usually one to back away from the facts, but I guess my pride was coming into play. Every once in a while a dose of humility does a man good I suppose...keeps him humble. ;)

Never know...could have been a little of both. The main thing is it runs and you are happy! ;)

The Glocks made over the last three years or so have had more than their share of problems. The first GEN4 G19's and G17's started off with the same RSA's as the .40's. Didn't work. They have gone through several different RSA's, ejectors, and various problems with MIM extractors and different finishes. Most of the newer ones seem to work pretty well.
The Tula ammo I've had a few hard primers and dud's. All fed o.k.. No problems with the Brown Bear. According to the Glocks owners manual the Glock was made to shoot any SAMMI spec or NATO spec ammo. You should not have to use NATO or +P ammo to get your gun to work. Glock used the need for hot ammo as an excuse to cover up problems they had with later model GEN3 and GEN4 guns. "Being made for NATO ammo" is b.s.. As stated by Glocks owners manual again it should work with any SAMMI spec ammo which includes most any American ammo. Their is the rub.
Most European ammo is loaded on the hotter side. I believe they use CIP specs which I am unfamiliar with. Who knows what the Russian stuff does or doesn't have to meet? Try some American ammo. It is a step in trouble shooting. I would do a search on ggogle for Glock GEN4 G19 problems. Lots of information that may help. Good luck.

All semi auto pistols require a hold that allows the ejection system to work.

The hotter the round, the less malfunctions occur.

But in fact, I have fired hot 115g Remington +P+, out of one of my Glock 17s, holding the pistol with thumb, and one finger! It worked fine, all 18 rounds.

The new? both thumbs forward grip, causes, lots of times, the lifting of the slide lock lever (slide release) then locking the slide back, mid magazine empty.

Ok...update time. Went out today with 100 rounds of Brown Bear and Tula 115 grainers. Yep, I said that I was gonna try some hotter ammo, but I did some more research and decided "Hmmm, maybe it was me?" Turns out, uh huh...this Gen 4 is just as reliable as all the others people have raved about. Only 1 failure to feed out of 100 rounds this time. And that was because I sorta tried to duplicate the failure to ascertain if my assumptions about the failures were true.
Well, that sounds like forward progress to me!

. . . .Next step is to actually pattern on some paper to get better acquainted with the sights. I was simply testing for function this second time out...and blasting some water-filled milk jugs and bottles for giggles. It was sorta tough to not want to just blast away...the Glocks seem phenomenal about running very fast. . . .
This step sounds like it was a lot of fun!
