Gen 4 Glock 17 vs 19 with dedicated ccw

Hunter,

May I suggest you try to pack, ccw, around the house for a whole day and see if you can comfortably carry the 17.

Try sitting down, walking, bending over, etc.

I use my 26 cause I can pack it all day.

I had the 19,17 and 34.Sold the 34 the 17 I have not shot in along while.
I prefer the 19,I shoot it as well as the others even in IDPA.
It is also my primary carry.I do however have a heck of a callus on my strong hand middle finger.

LOL...

I have all three, and each has circumstances where it's better than the others.

I sometimes feel I shouldn't have all three, but which one do I get rid of?

Then a 300 lb invader comes through the door, and I'm glad to have my G21.

Maybe the reason I have too many Glocks is that Glock makes too many Glocks. :D

Same reason I have too many Colts and Sigs.

Or, do I have a sickness???

I'd go with the 17. I prefer the fullsize glocks. That said I don't care for gen 4 and unless I get a smoking deal I cant pass up I will stick to my favorite Gen2s, or if I have to Gen3s.

Hold both and see which you prefer. Capacity is irrelevant as you can use glock 17 mags in your 19 if you want(as you know). If you are going to use it as a CCW, consider how each will look on your body. If you are a bigger guy, concealing a 17 will be a lot easier.

I've never really concerned myself with the sight radius on a pistol. I'm not a good enough shot to notice a difference.:D

Really it comes down to your personal needs. If it's going to spend more time at the range/night stand than on your hip, I'd probably go with the 17. If it's going to be used a lot as a hiking/carry gun, I'd go 19.

They are pretty much the same to me, but since the 19 fits my smallish hands just a biiiiiiiit better, I tend to shoot the 19 a little better than the 17 (but not by much). So I stick w/the 19.

YMMV
