gave the .480 a workout today....

The Hornady 325 gr XTP's run in the $30-$33/20-ct box. When they were first introduced, the price was about $1/round. Prices have gone up. It has been reported that Hornady has discontinued the 400 gr XTP offering. Other commercial loadings run more.

Like all big bore shooting, it is not a cheap game to play. With reloading you can cut the cost down dramatically.
 
i was at a gun store yesterday and asked if he can order me some .480 ammo...he said the only thing in stock at his supplier is .480 hornady 400 grain....i guess i might have to get a couple of boxes...ill take what i can get when it comes to .480
 
The Ruger .480 is everything a .44 wants to be. It to is the easiest round to reload for and loves lead bullets. It is a reloaders dream and a fabulous cast bullet shooter. If you reload and cast the hardest part is finding brass. I shoot mine at least twice a week and love every minute I spend with it
