They seem to be pretty good. I have heard a negative comment about the trigger guard and the 4 and 3/4" ejector housing length. OTT, I hear good things about them. I haven't gotten any real experience with one yet. I am interested in their tolerances, bore size and bolt/hand interaction. There are some who cannot abide locks. These single actions really remind me of the old Arminius/Sauer/EAA single action revolvers.

Somebody has a fondness for SA revolvers.
Yeah, I had the misfortune of handling a Ruger Vaquero last week, and haven't been able to sleep since.

The Vaquero will be in Friday, and it sure looks like I'm going have several before this dance is over ;) ;)

Geez, that is pretty. I wonder if it is all stainless, as opposed to the alloy grip frame, ejector rod housing, etc. of some of the Ruger single actions?

Here is a review for ya' Bullrock.

Jeff Quinn over at Gunblast checks one out here: http://www.gunblast.com/Taurus_Gaucho.htm.

I don't know if it's the .005 gap, flat springs or shooting to the right, but I get a bad vibe about the gaucho. On the other hand, Jeff liked it and he has forgot more about guns than I'll ever know.

Shouldn't the gap be .004??? and is that your experience, or from the review.. :)
BTW, many thanks for the link. Good review. My impression was that Jeff seem to compare the Gaucho as the next best thing to the Colt...I like that part... :D
RevolverLover, I can't get an answer from Taurus today. My dealer did tell the the entire frame is steel...???

I'll know tomorrow if he can get one for me...Good price $350.00

Jeff said the Gaucho he tested had a .005 barrel/cylinder gap.

I've been looking for a SAA clone and was very happy Gunblast had tested a gaucho. I like the way the guys write and all the reviews appear to be pretty honest.

It would be super cool if you get one and let us know how it stacks up against your other two. ;) The Bullrock Report, that's what we'll call it. :D

Over 40 years ago I used to be able to shoot1, fan 5, and hit what I was shooting at. It took allot of time, but I could do it. Now I have been told not to fan todays S/A's...Go figure  ...Can't shoot like that anymore, anyway! :o

OK. My sources report that the Gauchos are all steel in blue or stainless. I have heard reports of excellent triggers with one modification. Rumour has it that Wolff lightened mainspring is installed at the factory. The simple modification is to install a neoprene, plastic or leather (traditional) spacer/washer between the mainspring and the frame. This is slightly adjustable and can easily give a single action trigger pull of less than one pound. Be careful. The thickness of the spacer and the screw tension affect the trigger pull. The lightened factory mainspring and this modification can result in light primer strikes and failure to ignite.

you are out of control Bullrock. :D Put your checkbook down and back away slowly!

The shortened ejector rod bothers me only because it slows the reloading process down. The shortened rod isn't long enough to fully clear the case from the cylinder so you end up stroking the rod, then plucking the case the rest of the way with your fingers. Irritating.

That's why I prefer the .45 ACP cylinder in the Vaquero. The short case clears all the way, faster reloads. Only thing is, your image suffers because you can't wear 2 or 3 belts full of ammo in loops. And image is everything. :D

No, no, let the man shop. :D
Bullrock, with his mega gun-totin' ways, is a role model for some of us broke stiffs.

I want to be like Bullrock when I (finish) grow(ing) up. :D

You should see the looks I get when I show up at a shoot(not cowboy) with my rig fully loaded with 25 240gr .44 mag cartridges :p

That means JR you will be inheriting all of my maxed out credit card bills' I've been using to fix my dependency on guns...

I may back off a while on this one til I hear more from all of you broke experts...

Trust me you don't want to be broke and on a gun kick. It hurts, I mean it really hurts when you can't have what you really want.

Maybe that's why I can't sleep, and fall into a fit of panting whenever I see a new gun??? You suppose???
