Gas prices?

I paid 1.99.9 yesterday at the self serve pumps here in Omaha.

That's up from 1.79.9 last week...

My 80 mile/day commute is starting to get expensive...

Don't forget guys one of the alphabet agencies, the EPA, decreed that we had to burn a new " supposedly cleaner" and of course more expensive gas for summer starting Memorial Day. From what I have heard its slightly harder to make, and slightly more expensive too and in very short supply. Which means "Expensive"

Maybe we should complain to Bill Richardson about it, as he promised lower prices over the summer.
He should have plenty of time to devote to this problem as soon as they figure out who stole those hard drives from Los Alamos.
(but I wouldn't hold my breath)

And just wait Diesel will catch gas this fall when they have to make heating oil instead. You wouldn’t want to be ahead of the game now would you?

Just paid $2.24 for premium for my cycle over the weekend. But a little over a year ago I didn't hear much complaining when gas dipped under a buck a gallon.

Put it in persective: Evian bottled water is about $12 a gallon; Nyquil is about $225 a gallon.

But, hey, if it hurts Gore, I'll pay more. (Gee, that sounds like a campaign slogan).

They sure ain't paying folks who are working for oil companies more, so count that out as a reason...no complaint, just fact.

NE Florida hovering around 1.46 - 1.53 for regular.

Last week here in Cleveland it was $1.59/1.67/1.75.

Last Thursday it went up to $1.88/1.98/2.08

Monday of this week, after word got out that the Feds were looking into the gouging, it dropped (gee, why?) to $1.69/1.77/1.85

Anybody surprised?

$1.75 for cheapest unleaded in Iowa

Was in Milwaukee over the past weekend and paid $2.05 for the same thing.

jcoyoung: your photo is downright scary. If I have my landmarks right, that's Chicago, correct?

The USA can thank the environmentalists for all this. By trying to destroy domestic production, they left us with virtually no leverage over other petroleum producers.

GnL, you've got that right, Chicago.
Thank goodness I don't live in the chity. The Amoco down the street is about $2.30 for premium. Time to dust off the o'l mountain bike.

RHC:

On your observation "three times higher in Europe", more of less true, but most of that price goes to governments, for a much larger proportion of pump prices in Europe are TAXES, than here.

As I noted in a short post, someone in this country is making one large pot of money from this latest round of price hikes, and I suspect that their names are, for starters XYZ Oil, Inc.

Went to $2.67US a gallon here today for the lowest unleaded. (Remember, we don't have leaded fuel any more.)

On the news tonight, we were told to expect $3.00 to $3.10US a gallon within the next week.
