I have noticed that since the start of my avid pistol collecting, my taste's have changed slightly, now I still like the pistols from before the change but am interested in something (1) again, (2)new, (3)not real experienced in.
The way that I first came to handguns is from my father who was an Oregon State Policeman for over 30 years, he had me trying S&W revolvers at 5 or soon after. Obviously he had to help me shoot at that age but it is a great memory non the less. Growing up I was always hunting and shooting pistols whith family and friends.
When I first started owning pistols I had bought a Taurus semi-auto at 18 for general HD/SD. My experience with it was not too good from a reliability stand point, and soon after my father had given me his service revolver, a S&W 686-1 4'' 357mag. A sweet pistol with a couple speed loaders to boot, and he also gave me a Glock 17 9mm that was his service pistol after the OSP droped S&W revolvers and went to Glock 9mm's.
So for the next 12 years or so the S&W 686 and Glock 19 were my only handguns except for a S&W 22lr semi auto for a few years. Well a little over a year and a half ago or so I decided I was going to find my newly married wife a decent small pistol for CC/HD/SD. This incident is what started my new addiction to handguns, it was like that first sip or the first hit---whatch out!!
Well to sum it up I have been doodling on the web and in books and gun shops and gun shows, for the past year an a half and am loving it. My intrests have brought me from small semi auto's to plastic semi auto's, then a real bad one 1911's. I like 1911's alot and have already had 4 or 5 go through my hands, but you learn about the cost of quality real soon with 1911's.
Now the new one, my wife told me a month or so ago that she really wanted a snub nose revolver for her CCW instead of the Makarov she usually uses. So being the great husband I am, I went gun shopping! I ended up finding her a sweet little snub a Taurus 605 357mag(she shoots 38+p), she loves it and shoots it well, she also has two speed loaders and pink grips with a nice leather floral holster. SO after being impressed with the little Taurus and now wanting a snub of my wery own, I picked one of my handguns that I wanted to up grade. I picked one to trade and went looking, and what I happened to find opened even more door's of intrest to me. It was a Taurus M905 9mm revolver with..... MOONCLIPS!!! Moonclips are freak'n great for revolvers, and way faster than speed loaders. Now I was already on a revolver kick, but now it's got a whole new twist, Is it ever gonna stop!! (like I want it to)
Have any of you had the same experience with taste in handguns changing?? Or am I just one of the finicky ones?
