Full Auto, Warning Shots, and Ayoob

The story is even better when told by Ayoob in person. As I recall it...

The guy was for most intents and purposes a yuppie driving his yuppie lady in his yuppy car to a yuppie evening out. Some drunks in a pickup decided to harass them, blowing the horn, driving close, yelling, throwing empty beer cans, then throwing full beer cans, etc. The guy finally has enough of this s#!% and drives to his workplace which has a secured parking lot with a guard at the entrance. He zooms in yelling for help. "Duh" says the guard as the car goes by. The pickup follows. "Duh" says the guard as an unauthorized truck full of drunks goes by. Guy stops, basically trapped, tells lady to run into the building and call 911 while he holds them off. He reaches into the back seat and pulls out his take-home work. Did I mention he worked for a gun company? No? Said take-home work was a Ruger machinegun that he was studying. Gets out, points gun at advancing goblin who is approaching with some kind of weapon (tire iron?). Goblin continues advancing. Guy fires a warning burst over goblin's head, causing $50,000 damage to building across the street. Goblin advances, saying "F#@% you and your machinegun." Goblin never says anything again after that.

Well, that's how _I_ remember hearing the story.

$50,000? How do you do $50,000 of damage to a building with a short burst from a machine-gun?

I dunno, but I had a guy rear end my car @ 2 mph. The only things damaged were the center decorative "fake" tail light assy, and the plastic bumper cover.

Cost to repair? $2000.

Tamara - just read your web page... pages...
Very Cool stuff.
"Ma'am, did you know the hammer's cocked on that gun?" I would have kicked them outta the store! Well, I guess thats why you own a store and I always dismiss the idea before I close the deal to get one.

Oh - one last thing... Diablo ROCKS, as does NIN... But you hated the Honda MAGNA? No Way! I mean, I love dragging my knees too - but some times you just want a relaxing smooth and socially acceptable afternoon scoot. The Magna was one of my favorites... especially since it shares engines with the Interceptor - My first bike. Selling off the Magna was one of my bigger mistakes in life.

Thanks! *blush*

I don't own the store, just work there myself. The "...did you know the hammer's cocked?" thing became such a running gag that for the first week I carried the H&K, a couple of the guys I work with there thought it was big dirty fun to come up behind me and (in their best 'down home' accent) ask "Ma'am, did you know the squeezer's squeezed on that pistol?".

John-

That's how I remember it (could be wrong, but the number sticks with me). Damages add up if you consider that some combination of large glass panes, walls, computers, lights, pictures, etc. could be damaged by a _single_ round...times 3-10-? rounds sprayed from a distance (i.e. spreading out), plus work disruption (you gonna feel comfy working in a cube with a long hole from here to there?).
