Freedom Arms .454 Casull question

I second what JB says; I found that 12.7gr Unique under a 250gr hard cast bullet gets around 1100-ish, with extremely small deviation. And it is very mild.
 
We had a thread about detonation in the Rifle forum, roughly two years mback, mas o menos. I think somebody had heard of one other event, other than the one reported in The American Rifleman some 20 (?) years back.

That even was a reduced load of 3031 in a .243.

I've never, ever heard of detonation with pistol powder. If anybody has first-hand knowledge, I'd love to hear it.
