Found a Pro-Gun Democrat running in Texas

How do you propose that he gets elected and proves it if everyone took your advice and didn't consider him because he can't be trusted?
First of all (and this has been stated a couple of times) I never posted that he cannot be trusted, not to consider him or that he is a liar.
My main objective was to point out that the "stunt" should be taken with a note of skeptisism as politicians are WELL KNOWN for making campaign promises and then turning their back on the folks that elected them. Remember all they want is to get into office, once there they are there for AT LEAST four years.

First you state that it is a stunt, then you ask if it's a stunt.
However you'd like to read that one.

Most of your statements led to the conclusion that you can't trust ANY politician that makes a promise.

You put your spin on it, this is the point I am making---you can't trust A promise made by a politician RUNNING FOR OFFICE

I think the biggest thing in Mr. Van Os' favor is that he is making a stand based on his opinions and not following the cookie-cutter statements that the other Dem's are saying.

Either that or he is just saying what the majority of voters want to hear so he can be elected to the office he is seeking. As I said before that is up to the individual to decide before voting. As for me and the stunt pulled by the Dem. candidate for governor of GA, Mark Taylor:barf: I think he's full of it!:D

Here in SE Texas we had a congressman named Jack Brooks who sold his vote to an anti gun vote for some support on some legislation. He had been in congress for years. The people here fired him. If you do look on the NRA list for the elections in Texas there are several democrats who are pro gun rights.

Contender - Your rhetoric is running thin. I don't see any "spin" I made on that particular statement, however yours is making me dizzy.
A promise is merely a statement, a collection of words, which conveys a message. It can't instill trust or doubt, the person who states the promise is putting his integrity in that statement, in this case a politician. So, the politician can't be trusted. A promise may turn out to be a lie, it may turn out to be a reality, but it is the politician who makes it so. It's the same as 'Guns don't kill people, People kill people'. So, Promises don't cause people to mistrust politicians, politicians cause people to mistrust politicians.

Contender: You do bring up a good point about not trusting most politicians, since the guy Van Os is running against is alleged to have stolen my tax dollars to fund his campaign commercials. He (allegedly) spent 60K plus of our tax money to fund equipment to film his campaign commercials, and is paying a guy $ 70K a year to film them according to WFAA Television in Dallas.

Here is the link to one article on the story, but I saw an in depth one on on TXCN this morning:

No doubt in my mind that you can't trust too many of them. I think that is why this guy Van Os is running against him. I sure disagree with allowing a guy who certainly appears to have PROVEN HIMSELF BY VIDEOTAPE to be mishandling taxpayers funds, stay in office.

Well good. But umm, almost EVERY democrat from ANY southern state is strongly pro-gun. That's just the way it is. Which is why I tend to vote Dem at the state level, and Rep at the federal level, at least when there is no third party on the ballot.

Hey First Freedom:
How would you vote if John Warner was running in Texas. Have you seen the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, HR 5122?

Have you hear about this deal? It removes the IVth and Vth Amendment in totale.

Gary, look at the NRA ratings for Ron Paul and his opponent in the coming election. Something is wrong there, the 2nd A and the Constitution in general has no better friend than Ron Paul.

Badbob:

I saw that. It is a travesty. The Constitution has no better friend than Ron Paul, and the NRA is screwing him around.

The NRA is becoming the lap dog of the middle of the roaders in the RNC.

They are scared of Ron Paul, because he believes the 2nd Amendment says:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

You got that right! I'm not in Tx., but I made a contribution to re-elect Ron Paul anyway, because he's a true statesman. If Texas doesn't want him, maybe he'll move to Ga.
