Found a like new Ruger SP101 357 mag today

Personally, you couldn't pay me to coat a stainless revolver. But that's not my gun, it's yours. You should always like your gun, as I like mine. Post some pics I'm really curious how it comes out.

Poor little Ruger.:(

I fail to see the attraction to painting or coating guns. That goes double for the dirt brown and OD green.
Sniper gray?

Really?

Sniper?

psst.... It's a 357 snubby. What are you planning to snipe?

I prefer blued to stainless and almost anything at all to cerakote - especially two toned coloring. It's your gun so do whatever makes you happy.

I don't work for Cerakote, and I didn't choose the name of the color. That's what they call it. I chose it because it is a nice shade of grey.

It's a $400 gun. It's not like I'm putting Cerakote on a Colt Python guys. I'm not worried about decreasing the value of a $400 Ruger.

I say you should cerakote it sniper green or whatever color you desire.

Disregard the naysayers. It's not their gun. They can go buy one and do with it as they wish.

You have nothing to apologize for or justify. SP-101, Python or whatever. Who gives a d@mn what the next man would or wouldn't do to a stainless gun? Last I checked, money spent was item bought.

Enjoy your gun, sir.

Agree with tubeshooter

Do what you want to and ta heck with the rest of us! Your gun, you will be shootin and carrying it.

By the way, ever notice how you post something you want to do and get negative feedback, when you never really expected it? Just take them naysayers with a grain of salt and do just exactly as you please.

Do post some pictures!

Why would you cote that nice stainless finish ?

OP, you got a good deal on that. A few weeks ago I paid $499 for a new one.

But cerakoting it is going to cost you probably $150, give or take. And stainless is already very pretty. Even stainless with usage marks. I like guns like that.

I'd take that extra money and buy yourself some ammo.

I had a CZ 75B Compact done in burnt bronze recently, and the shop that I had it done at offered to do another gun for me for free if they could use my CZ for advertising. I took them up on their offer, so this one didn't cost me a penny.

The SP101 is the next gun I am looking to purchase. Please someone correct me, if I am wrong. I believe they are available in a 22LR, 22mag .38 .357. The barrel size? Thanks Charlie

The barrel size?

I bought one of the first SP101s in 22 LR way back when. Anytime something is new to the market, it commands a premium price. It had a four inch barrel.

I wasn't impressed with it and sold it for a substantially less than premium price. Doing my part for the economy: buy high, sell low.

The one I've got now is a DA only, 357 mag, and has a 2 1/4 inch barrel.
