Former Bush official to get RFID tag

The hidden problem here is government officials leaving government and arriving a short time later in a nice fat job at a company which will benefit from the inside knowledge of a former government type.

Tommy Thompson is the most recent example. A far worse example in this administration is former congressman Billy Tauzin of Louisiana. He was the House point man in the negotiations in congress over the utterly asinine, wasteful, duplicitous, pork-barrel, ad nauseum Medicare Drug Supplement legislation. Immediately after legislation was passed Tauzin resignes from congress and gets a job, making a large sack of money, fronting for the pharmaceutical organization the members of which were the beneficiaries of the boondoggle legislation.

Lemme see here. Make cash rich legislation for business interest, resign from congress, and then cash in IOU's. That how it works?

Who is exempt?

Is anyone or any class/caste of people exempt?
Are the typical 'law enforcement and military' exemptions in place? I doubt it.
How about the President and Cngress? are they exempt?

I bet a halfways adventurous doctor could make some big bucks removing these things in a sterile, non-scarring way.

No one can ever make me get one of those things...

You know, this makes me think of something I read once in a book. Everyone will have to get this certain "mark" to do business or get medical treatment apparently...shortly before a lot of really bad things happen.

hmmm

'They shall be able to neither buy nor sell,, lest they have the Beasts mark."

Is that what you remember reading?

Over my dead body... literally. And if somehow it is forced on me against my will, I'll remove the d*mn thing and flush it down the toilet, give 'em something to scratch their heads about. If they're that small, a craft knife that you can get for a buck at Wal-Mart and a pair of tweezers should do the job quite nicely. I believe it is wrong on many levels, not the least of which is my faith, for which I have already watched friends die for - right here in this great free nation *gag.* Yeah... maybe I'm a religious nut or whatever they're calling us nowdays... but the gov't has already proven itself inept, dangerous, and unworthy of the privilege of that type of tracking information on us. Would you want someone like Bill Clinton or Janet Reno to be able to see exactly what your every move is? What if they decide they don't like your church, your gunstore, or someone you associate with? Think it can't come to that? Tell that to the kids in my signature line who will never grow up because of those b*st*rds. Sorry for ranting but this stuff just really ticks me off. And the rate at which most Americans are willing to roll over and give in horrifies me.

I see a brighter America in the future. Every American whether born or naturalized will be instantly identifiable from everyone else in the world. No more illegal immigrants, no more terrorists sneaking in, just Americans who belong here. Chips implanted at birth and upon entry to our shores will be mandatory. Scanners everywhere to check people out, anyone who has overstayed their visa will be immediately identified and arrested. Anyone who shouldn't be here in one way or another will not be able to go a block without setting off an alarm.

Oh, and by the way, I will have the black market cornered for counterfeit chips. :D

:barf: This idea of chips is only slightly more technical than having papers on you. It will work to some degree but will not be nearly fool-proof and will create a large counterfeiting economy. Plus it has the added negative that you would never know for sure how much privacy you lost. :barf:

Re what Tommy is willing to have injected into his hide, ther is trulky NO ACCOUNTING FOR THE VARIATIKNS IN PERSONAL TASTE.

Suffice it to say that I view things otherwise, and by the way, I have percious little trust or faith in the maudlin rambling of those in government. Didn't have much to begin with, and given the passage of time and events, there is less every day.

These will be some of the first mandatory recipients; military types won't have any choice.

Peace officers will have a "choice" like most everyone else;

"No Mr. Biggles, we are not saying "you must have this. Only that we can not hire you if you will not accept it as part of your employment contract with us". ;)
