for those that carry

yeah u dont want people to know you have a gun like one time when i was on a mission all i had was a m9 and once the taliban saw it i ran for cover and called backup then when i got back to the states there was a family who saw my m9 when i was croaching down picking my phone i had dropped and that was a mess i had to retake my firearms safety test just to qualify for getting my gun

I open carry, here at home, and open carry (unless it's cold enough for a coat) when out and about. At home for 4 legged types, away, the 2 legged varieties. I've carried since 1970, no big deal. The carry is like a wallet, it just goes on when I dress.

Carry is 100% legal, why do you let the Brady propaganda bother you? Know the law for your state and follow it just like when you drive your car. Or, Do you have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen? You should have...just in case.

The only times I don't carry is when prohibited by law.
I completely ignore "no firearms allowed" signs posted on business doors.

I've had my concealed carry since the law was passed here in Wisconsin. I will always carry, when I take a trip to Milwaukee or Madison area...southren Wisconsin. Around home..Northren Wisconsin is a pretty safe place. I guess, that I've made a statement about Milwaukee and Madison!!!

I didn't carry for several months after I got my permit because I didn't have a gun I felt comfortable carrying. All mine were too heavy and bulky. I was concerned that some one would spot my gun and call the cops. Plus they were so heavy I just didn't want to lug any of them around. I got a S&W Airweight (642) and a LCP. Now when I leave home I have at least one of them on me. I left home the other day without either and felt almost naked. I am the same way with my cell phone and pocket knife. It takes some getting used to.

I got my permit to make purchasing less hassle, and to avoid legal problems carrying in the woods or to and for the range, or on the off chance I might want to carry so e place. Since finding a light, compact, easy to shoot, and effective gun (LCP) I'm rarely if ever without it. It lives in a pocket holster and no one, including my friends, knows it's there.

I still plan my life the same way I did before I got the permit. My overall philosophy is sort of like a piece of advice I got when I bought my first 4WD car: Don't take it anywhere you wouldn't drive a 2WD car ;-)

Gee if only I had a 1911, that would be a bit easier to conceal than a Glock 22 or Beretta PX4 full size in .45, and it would be more comfortable to boot. I can conceal my buddies Colt 1911 Gov't model just fine in a tee shirt and shorts.

I remember my first time carrying the G22 my dad bought for me as a birthday gift when I turned 21 a few months back. It was the only pistol I had at the time, I felt like everyone knew I was carrying. Now I have expanded my collection, the Glock l stays at home, and I carry a Ruger LCP and a S&W 9mm Shield(with the extended 8 round mag) daily. I carry everywhere except work, and where unlawful. Without a pistol on me, I feel naked, and like everybody knows I'm unarmed-quite odd I may add as a few months ago I felt like everybody knew I was armed. My close friend and best shooting buddy still doesn't carry all the time, we live in a low risk area, where there are more 4-legged threats than 2-legged ones, however when we go into the more populous areas, he will slip his pistol in his waistband.

Carrying concealed is great practice, as a few have said, a pea shooter in your pocket is better than a hand cannon at home. When I go for hikes alone or with the girlfriend, I feel much safer, as the black bear are a popular sight this year.

Living here in IL I cannot legally carry. I have a non-resident PA permit which is recognized in WI, which is about 15 miles north of where I live. I have carried in WI a few times, but I must admit I am not used to it yet. I still feel like everyone is watching me. Plus, I have the issue of (if I want to remain legal) of stopping before crossing back into IL and unloading the gun and putting it into a storage container of some type. If and when we every get concealed carry here in IL I think I would be more likely to carry routinely.

The choice to carry or not and when relly comes down to a risk/reward or cost/benefit evaluation. The valuation of the risks, rewards, costs, or benefits involved is a subjective and personal process.

Also, while it is true as some have stated here that you do not get to choose when and where you may be attacked, there certainly are different probabilities of it at different times or places.

For example, if you have a short commute to work through low crime areas and you are not allowed to carry at work, you might opt to leave the weapon at home.... or not. It's up to each person's assessment. On the other hand, if you need to go to a bad area you might just think it's crazy not to bring your weapon when you have the option of doing so.

I carry whenever and wherever I can.

I know how you feel, it's kind of hard actually to strap on a gun, but once you do and get used to it, it's no big deal, in fact, you'll feel weird when you don't have it with you.

My crystal ball for what will happen in the future just doesn’t seem to work right.. Can’t tell if today is going to be incident free as usual or if some unexpected and horrible circumstance involving a BG is going to happen...

So I carry almost every day with few exceptions...

You carry house insurance, vehicle insurance and all kinds of other insurances so why not insurance for what matters the most... You and your family...

Yes it does mean taking the time to properly holster the gun in a hidden place and it means avoiding trouble and arguements of every kind and being extra polite but to me its worth it...
