For now, 3rd party needs to go away!!

I wish, just for this election, the 3rd party would go away.

If it were not for the 3rd party, G.W. Bush would be at 49% instead of 43% in the race for the White House, if we let "algore" in the White House, a whole new wave of freedom attacking laws and actions will be seen like no other time in history.

I know these polls may be biased, but the fact still remains that the votes are being split for the best chance this country has.

From Rasmussen--Portrait of America:
Presidential Tracking Poll In the race for the White House, Gore and Bush are virtually tied in the popular vote. In our latest 3-day average Gore has 40.5% while Bush has 43.8%. Ralph Nader has 3.0%, Pat Buchanan has 1.9%, Harry Browne .7%, and Howard Phillips .3%. These results from a nightly Portrait of America Presidential Tracking Poll reflect interviews conducted August 21, 22, and 23.

It is time to face reality, if we want to get rid of all that scum in the White House we must not fool ourselvs into thinking that our vote would do anything to futher a 3rd party person being elected.

I don't know about the DEMS but all these conservitive right wing canadates are causing GW to loose votes, and GW is what this country needs, hell anyone but "algore" please.

It's time to face reality: So long as Republicans believe that we have "no place else to go", they will continue to treat us like dirt, because that's what you do to groups who have no choice but to vote for you: Screw them over, in the hope that you can get the votes of their enemies, too. Only the folks whose votes are "in play" get any respect.

So, go ahead and send the RNC a registered letter informing them that you'll vote Republican even if they compromise on gun control. Rest assured, they will!

If Gore is elected, it will hasten the end of the legitimate political process in America.

I'm still voting Libertarian.

I think that there not only should be 3rd parties, but 4th 5th and 6th parties! The current 2 are too corrupt. Sometimes gun owners sound like sheep. baaa baaa, vote straight Republican. baa baa. I'll vote for whoever supports my view on issues. If the repubs are so great we wouldn't have gotten so many laws that violate our freedoms while they maintain a majority. They are the party that made "constitutional rights" a dirty word to begin with! I will remain a thinking independent.

While you guys are standing up for your values (and I have total agreement on the conservitive political mindset) then the vote for the only half-decent canadate loses because the vote was split for him, and "algore" takes office.

I don't have to tell you what would happen if that guy took the White House, and it would not stop with the second amendment.

This is not a popular view here, but we need to take some real nessasary, extreme action, to make sure that we can stop the Klintonian style abuse of power.

we need a starting point to turn this nation around, that point is G.W. Bush, and we have to face the reality that a vote for any other canadate, is a vote for "algore"

I respect those voting for conservative 3rd party candidate. I do, however think it is like playing the lottery. I think it would be a good idea to first have a nation-wide campaign to see how many would pledge to vote for the 3rd party first. Then you would have a better idea if your candidate could win. Otherwise, it is a big gamble.

I don't want to bash the 3rd parties in this country. If you want to vote Libertarian, do it. But in a presidential race this tight, I agree with Chris on this one. Vote third party for your local, state, and federal candidates if you want, but seriously consider voting for George W. for president this fall. I think we all know that with Cheney and his position on the 2nd Amendment, we will be far better off in January, 2001 with George W. at the helm than with "spotted AL". Don't waste your vote on president this November. Sign the petition to George W., and vote for him this fall. Don't waste a vote that might mean the difference between a pro-gun conservative and four more years of Clinton-Gore. The supreme court is just too important.

I grant that the laws in most states pretty much preclude third-party candidates on the ballot. This means that those in favor of some third-party candidate for ANY elected office must do the old "write in" bit.

On problem is that 3Ps only come out during an election year. They don't spend the intervening years trying to organize, raise money, hold public meetings--all that stuff that would make the 3P viable.

Right after election day in November of 1996, I knew for whom I would vote in November, 2000. Whoever had the best chance to win against Gore.

If Gore wins, there will be so much tax-and-spend co-opting of the few remaining sovereign individuals that after him, there will be some 60% Democrats, and the rest split up among Republicans, Reform, Greens, Libertarians, Natural Law and I don't know what all: Who combined together will total some 30% of the popular vote in 2008.

Folks like Schumer, Feinstein, Waters, Bonnior, Boxer, et al, will be passing the laws you will live under, and just flat-out forget Emerson finding favor from the Supremes. And, gee, we need another three Divisions to "advise" the Colombians...

:(, Art

That's pure crap, Art!! Me and my group here in Central Missouri work week in and week out trying to further the work of the Libertarian Party. Post cards, phone calls, editorials to local newspapers, information booths at County and State Fairs. I carry informational pamphlets to hand out to interested parties. This is true "grass roots" organizing. I don't whine about the system, I try to do something about it and believe me, I sleep well at night. Nuff said!!!!

Frenchy,

What's that signature line mean?

Chris,

I'll tell you what. You choose your path to hell and I'll choose mine.

Who was it that said...

Democrats are socialists who will drive you off a cliff at 100 MPH.

Republicans are socialists who will drive you off a cliff at 60 MPH.

I agree totally with this topic, if the republicans would just go away and leave it between the democrats and the true conservatives, Libertarians, this country would be much better off.

:)

Okay, how about this? If your state is defintely going to Bush or Gore, and it's not going to be close, vote for any third party you want, as you won't be contributing to Gore. It's the electorial vote that counts, and the winner gets all of them. If your state is going to be close, consider strongly holding your nose and voting for Bush.

Mr X. - It does not have to be that way, it choosing between the two evils, and trust me, G.W. is and angel compared to "algore"

Jack 99 - That is exactly what we will be avioding by voting for G.W.!!

Strong alternative parties are good, but unlikely. This time, I'm not going to vote for a third party. I did that last time and got Clinton/Gore. I'm not excited about Bush. I'm actually voting against Gore. I doubt that a win for Gore would be as bad as you all say, but he stands for everything that I stand against. He wants to save the children, poor and the like. Every time that I go to out to eat, I order children, but they never have them on the menu. Just my dry sense of humorlessness. I'm so sick of listening to the same Democratic sixties diatribe. They need a new toon. How about Elmer Fud.
