For My Fellow Cold Steel Knife Fans

I've always been curious as to where the "hate" for CS stems from, but can't figure it out and when I've asked on other forums, I've either gotten a temporary ban or I've been told that I shouldn't bring the topic up.

Conflict resolution plan

TO THE FAMILY OF "COLD STEEL" DEVOTEES ON THIS FORUM:

GENTLEMEN: I OFFER THE FOLLOWING PLAN

1. IMMEDIATELY DIVORCE YOURSELVES FROM THOSE FORUMS, WHICH ENCOURAGE, TOLERATE, & PROMOTE HATRED TOWARDS OUR FAVORITE BRAND OF KNIVES / PRODUCTS AND TO THOSE CONSUMERS WHO CHOOSE TO SPEND THEIR MONEY WITH COLD STEEL CORPORATION.

2. DISCONTINUE YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THOSE PUBLICATIONS WHO BASH COLD STEEL PRODUCTS & HAVE NO RATIONAL BASIS FOR SUCH.

3. DO NOT TOLERATE THIS TYPE OF UNDESIRABLE BEHAVIOR FROM ANYONE WHO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN THIS FORUM. SUCH BEHAVIOR WILL BE ADDRESSED BY THE MEMBERSHIP & BACKED BY THE STAFF MEMBERS.

4. CONTINUE TO PURCHASE & PROMOTE COLD STEEL PRODUCTS TO FORUM MEMBERS, SO LONG AS COLD STEEL CONTINUES TO OFFER HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS TO CONSUMERS.

HOPEFULLY THIS SUGGESTED PLAN WILL SETTLE THIS ISSUE ONCE & FOR ALL
WITH THE READERS OF THIS FORUM. WE SUPPORT THE RIGHT FOR ALL TO CHOOSE AS THEY SEE FIT, BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE BASHED, ABUSED, OR HUMILIATED FOR THE CHOICES YOU MAKE.

PROUD CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF "THE FIRING LINE" FORUM--OOO-RAH !!!

I also like Cold Steel products. I browse their catalogs and website fairly often. Their advertising videos are both impressive and entertaining.

I own a few of their products....SRK knife, kukri machete, one of their 5" kitchen knives, a rubber training knife, and their warhammer. I find their stuff to be generally excellent, although not the be-all and end-all of knives. For example, I have a SOG Tigershark, somewhat comparable to the Cold Steel Trailmaster, and I am very satisfied with it -- it will do pretty much any job you could ask from a knife, including what you'd normally use a hatchet for.

I also like their polypropelene training swords, and may buy one or two of those in the future. Their steel swords are nice, but there are better swordmakers out there, and some CS swords are....not very historically accurate.

Overall though, I'd rate Cold Steel as a very good manufacturer. Many of their products would be hard to find elsewhere, especially at their level of quality.

The Cold Steel hate reminds me a lot of the Glock hate....or even the Taurus hate.

Their advertising has turned me off because I find it too sensational.

Same with many gun ads.

I want a sober, serious ad without implications that I will be turned into an "operator" by buying their products.

I find this is a widespread problem.

Sorry to be off topic. I did want one of their Light Cavalry Sabres, though.

I have had great luck with Cold Steel. I carry an American Lawman every single day, and if I'm hitting the woods, I carry a Spartan. Great stuff for sure.

I guess I must make a shameless plug as well since there is a collective CS fan base talking here... When I got my business up an running, I became a Cold Steel dealer, mainly because I could, and I like knives. I am currently running a Cold Steel group buy for the next two days, 40% off list price on anything you want. Here are the details...

Like I said, I like knives, and I'm not really doing this to make money... Just trying to offer a good deal to good people.

Have never owned or used a Cold Steel product. In an earlier post I said many good knives could be purchased for much lower prices. No hate.
These forums are good fodder for the psychologists.
I have seen 'hate' posts when the name brand of a certain woodworking tool is mentioned. Same with WD-40, always worth a firestorm. And, if you can believe it, a polishing wax for pens.
Folks is funny critters.
I would be willing to buy a CS knife if it fit my needs and budget.
