For Fun ... What to use against vampires?

Like most people, I had the day off on the 4th but the wife took the little one to the in-laws for the early part of the day which meant that I had the TV to myself and I caught an episode of "Dark Shadows", which I haven't seen in more than a quarter of a century. That show and the following post ...
quote:
[Link to invalid post]
... The only encounter FUD hasn't had yet is a close encounter of the third kind. I want for him to post - "What rounds for Sauron Octopidians". Yesterday, I was driving down a dirt road in Florida and my engine died. A blue light surrounded ...[/quote] ... got me thinking about vampires and what would be an effective firearm/load against them.

There appear to be two types of blood-suckers:

The traditional kind that are repelled by holy items, blessed silver bullets, etc. Against this type, I figure that you would need a hi-cap .22 pistol with specially handloaded silver bullets that had been blessed. You really don't need to do a lot of damage as long as the bullet makes contact with the vampire and a good quality .22 should do the job.

Then you have the non-traditional / modern-day vampires who are not bothered by holy items, silver bullets, etc.; but are extremely hard to kill. Against them, I would suspect that a good quality .357magnum would get the job done.

Well if you watch movies like Blade, silver is the way to go...or the more traditional like Anne Rice or Dracula stake in heart and cut out head.

But a common thread in everything is light/fire will kill vamps. So I'd like a flame thrower and a sword. Oh yeah a blessed M1A2 Abrahms Tank would be nice also, as Jack Nicholson said "walk softly and bring an armored tank division" :)

Since most Vampires I meet are the "Baby Bat" or "Death Bunny" type, A slap upside the head useally works. :)

For the other type, Ruger Old Army In .45 works, Me and a friend have been debating about Casting a set of rounds in silver. Also thought about a North American Companion down at the store I've been eyeing, Need to cast those too, but I wouldn't know where to get .22 molds.

Do Winchester silver tips actually have a light coating of silver on them? If so, that'll do the trick.

A picture of Hillary or Rosie should work to keep a vampire away, the thought of it is making me sick, sorry, never mind.

A chain saw should do the trick! AFA silver bullets are concerned, if they were good enough for the Lone Ranger, they`re good enough for me! :D

Nothing as if I run into a vampire I only run the risk of being bitten on the ass or elbows! Same rule of thumb applies to ghosts and snakes.

Gee guys, I thought the silver bullets were only effective against Werewolves. A wooden stake through the heart and decapitation were the only methods of Vampire extermination. So with that said, I load up my Kimber with Mahogany Hollow points and carry my machete.
FUD, Winchester's silver tips are actually aluminum. Mark / FL

You guys know zip about vampires.

In the Bram Stoker book, Dracula was killed by knives. A Tx with a Bowie knife IIRC correctly. One in the heart and off with his head.

Anyway, I plan to ask the ArchBishop to bless the Edwards Aquifer and then turn on the sprinkers - of course, if it isn't my day, I'll get a ticket.

Silvertips have no silver, it is heavy enough for a bullet, some guys make them for speciality items.

I think a bucket of blood just before sunrise will get him/her/it into its box. Then stake, lop, and damn well burn the sucker.

On the other hand, no one said he attacked causing grievious bodily harm, so watch out for the wrongful death suits. :(

Mark, you beat me to it - werewolves. BTW, does that mean it were a wolf and now it's something else? :)

well just for fun I have 2 boxes of AVP (anti-vampire projectiles), well sort of at least. Both the Sweedes and the Isrealis used WOOD paractice ammo and as a mill-surp collector I picked up a box of .308 and 6.5x55. The will not function a Semi but work fine in bolt guns

For informational purposes I'll post these figures.
The Specific Gravity of lead is 11.3, and the Specific Gravity of silver varies from 10.7 - 12.0, depending on purity.
So actually lead and silver are real close to the same weight.
Gold on the other hand, has a SG of 19.3 and up, depending on purity.
It would be interesting to see ballistics of gold and silver bullets, compared to lead.

Oh yeah, my choice on a vampire would probably be a flamethrower, then cut his/her head off with a big ol' knife. :D

I'll use a spear, my sword, or one of my knives, or one of my many wooden weapons. combine that with my righteous spirit...no problema. (BTW, are we facing the "vampyre as curse" type, or the "vampirism as disease" affliction?)

How about a HEAT round? "Undead" my a$$. What would it do, pull the 100 billion dispersed molecules of its body back together again? That'd be cool to see.

Ever see the movie Men in Black, where the pawn shop owner is shot by K? As his head grows back, he says "Geez, you know how much that stings?"

(snicker)

I think a fat bullet, with a broad, deep hollowpoint, filled with holy water and capped with nylon, like a MagSafe, would work pretty well....

For close quarters combat against the undead, Glaser Safety Slug, Inc. introduces . . . Glaser White. The famous frangible slug is back in a new form to cope with those evil vampires, witches, warlocks, or werewolves who might cause you grief. Rather than lead shot, Glaser White uses compressed white phosphorous which expels itself on impact into the target. It doesn't matter if the target can regenerate, because that good ole' Willy Pete will just keep burning. They may not be dead, but they'll be too busy twitching to cause you any grief when you decap them. Each round is coated in a thin layer of silver blessed by the Pope, two rabbis, and Billy Graham, just to cover all bases. In addition, Glaser has added a chemical compound to the outer shell of the round which gives off UV radiation once exposed to the heat of firing, insuring damage to vampires.

Glaser White: for when it positively, absolutely needs to be toasted right there!

The term "Glaser White" is the intellectual property of the author, and will appear in an upcoming novel, should he ever get off his lazy butt and write the damned thing. :)
