For all of you NC CCWs

Though NC law does state that you don't have to retreat from your home or business, NC does not have a true Castle Doctrine law in that you aren't protected from civil suits in cases where you found innocent.

That is something that I hope will be rectified soon, but with the current state of politics in NC, it ain't gonna happen anytime in the immediate future.

Thanks for the info. That's what I thought was the case. In SC we do have the civil suit protection, but still I feel better when I carry into NC (about every day) than before.

Thanks for the link. If they could add the civil law suit part it would be great, but it's still progress in the right direction.

Now just for a little reality. The border in this area weaves around so much there are times it's easy to loose track of which state you are in. On the same back road you might cross back and forth more than once. But certainly when we go to the towns we are aware of which state they are located.

think you can carry in places where alcohol is sold but not

consumed....like a grocery store that sells beer.

Correct. The way the statute reads, you can't carry where alcohol is sold AND consumed.

There have been unsuccessful efforts to change this as well. This is obviously stupid if you, like me, rarely consume alcohol. But the other side continues to play the really tired "blood will run in the streets" argument, I guess because it has been working for them on this specific issue.
