Fondled Ruger's New Precision Rifle

I got one in .243Win and shot some factory ammo through it first trip out. Picked a load I thought would work, backed it off the lands about 0.12" and loaded up 100. I was shooting just under 0.5MOA yesterday in some decent breeze at 300 yards. If the stock was flimsy, that would not happen.

Yes, it can be fired with the stock folded. The only piece that is not well done is the bolt shroud/tail, which is plastic, but there are two companies making replacements. There are already three companies making aftermarket barrels in a pretty long list of calibers.

Yes, a AR15 barrel nut wrench and a set of go-no-go gauges and you can rebarrel at home. The stock, grip and handguard are AR-15 parts. It is threaded. Also, my AICS, PMags and steel AR10 mags all work in it 100%. I have the cost of a decent pistol in AICS mags, now I can use $15 PMags.

My .243 was one of 4 RPRs at the range yesterday during filming of a special episode of Shooting Gallery specifically on the RPR which will air sometime this year.

Many have wondered at my choice of the .243Win over the 6.5CM. With 105s, I have slightly better ballistics than the 6.5CM keeping it below 3000 fps. I do this with 30% less cost and 35% less recoil. Might I get 1K less rounds on it? Maybe, but with the cheap rebarrel and saving some ammo cost, it will be, at worst, a wash, and I get less recoil. With the 1:7.7 twist, Ruger did their homework and I think the .243Win is the sleeper for sure.

My RPR in 308 is in. I'm wanting to make some changes that I have been thinking about for many months. I'm changing the barrel and butt stock. I called Ruger to get a price on both and was told there not selling just a barrel yet, and I would have to send the whole rifle in to get a quote. I was told they would have to call me back on the butt stock but never did. So my ques. to you guys is what do you think a fair price would be on a new RPR 308 barrel and but stock?
Thanks for your help (im also going to post this in another RPR thread that has been started here. I hope that's ok to do)

I have one of their Custom 6PPC heavy varmints that was the worst shooting 6 PPC I have ever seen in my life. It took a lot of lathe work to make it shoot like it should. For some reason, Ruger just cant get the details right on their machine work.
