The main distinguishing characteristic between the FN and the Glock is the length of the grip. The FN is really a hybrid-sized gun - the slide/barrel length is that of the G26, but the grip is roughly that of the G19.

This kind of makes sense for a duty gun (where you don't care about concealment, but might want a shorter slide to clear the holster a little quicker), but for concealed carry, the grip is the part that prints the most.

As far as function goes, I find them pretty similar. The FN has an ambi slide stop and the option of an ambi safety if that matters to you. Glock's got better aftermarket support. Glock mags are cheaper, but the FN is over $100 cheaper and comes with 3 mags to start.

As others have mentioned holsters are harder to find for the FN's.

I bought a holster from the factory for my FNS-9c, and ordered one from Alien Gear for my FNX-45.

Whereas for my Glocks and M&P's I can find holsters at Academy.

The FNS 9c is so similar in shape and size to the M&P9c that I strongly suspect many less-rigid (i.e. not Kydex) holsters will work.

I will also say, both I and some other reviewers online have had some gripes with the mag release on the FNS-9C. It's low profile on purpose to prevent accidentally dropping mags. Thing is, I've never had a problem with other pistols of similar size and construction dropping magazines. More so on the example I had it was next to impossible for me to get the magazine to drop one-handed because of how much I had to depress the magazine release. With one hand I really didn't have the leverage. To me it was a liability.

Now some reviewers, such as Mrgunsngear above, didn't find it a problem. To me it's something you'd want to check out in person if possible. I'd also add to what I said above about aftermarket sights and holsters is that magazines for the M&P are both cheaper and a lot easier to find too. That with the magazine release issues I had lead to me selling the pistol.

With the G26, holsters are no problem.
I just look on ebay...pages of holsters of every description, including high end ones.

Have you looked at the P320 subcompact? Same capacity as the FNS. Great trigger. Small package.

Agree 100% with the above. I would add the HK VP9SK to the comparison when it becomes available. And I would also add the new Walther PPS M2, which might have the best trigger pull of all of them.

Nothing terribly wrong with the FN but for me there is a lot that's right about the Glock 26. I like the reliability, the size and the fit in my hand, in fact it feels better to me than the larger G19.

Mr. Guns and Gear

Mr. G&G, I really enjoy your reviews on youtube...keep up the great work. Do you ever experience btf issues with Glocks? What is your viewpoint on the issue? I occasionaly get them with my Gen4 26.
