FN fiveseveN

Congrats!!! I would have one myself if I could just get past the cost of them. I am renting one at my range the next time I go which could be dangerous because they have one in FDE that I really like.

I've shot one a few times. Always loved shooting it, but it feels like a toy for sure. Grip and safety aren't the most comfortable, but the lack of recoil is great, and it seems to make me a better shooter than I really am.

They sure are expensive, but it's not really the up front cost that's holding me back. It's ammo costs. And the fact I can't just go get it at Walmart.

Interesting guns, and a lot different than most of us are used to. I had the use of a new one for several months, along with plenty of the FN SS-192 ammo. Very light recoil, reliable and impressive velocity. The SS-192 averaged 2025 FPS.

I bought the FNX 45 T a few months back. FN's are surperb quality and function. I've got about 600 rounds of factory and my hand loaded ammo and my FN just eats and spits flawlessly. I had a hard time dropping $1100 on a polymer handgun but in hindsight I have ZERO regrets. They are worth the price.

No, I'm not a paid fanboy for FN. I call like I see both negitive and positive.

The 5.7, with generic ammo, is a poor performer. Remember the velocity stats listed on boxes is usually from 10 inch or longer barrels, not the ~5 inch pistol barrel of the FiveSeven.

You want 2000 fps out of a .22 caliber pistol? Buy a .22 TCM, which in any loading will pierce Lvl IIIA armor.

I bought a used 5.7 years ago for a very good price. It's a high quality pistol that's a blast to shoot... literally. Ammo is easy to find. Not all indoor ranges will allow the 5.7 though. Enjoy your new pistol.

Bought one about a year ago really enjoy shooting it as others have said. Never had a problem getting ammo plenty on line and Cabelas and Bass Pro usually always have stock.

I've been told that the FN-branded ammo is made by Federal, although the source was not authoritative (LGS counter guy). ;)

Look at Vanguard Outfitters they have their custom 5.7x28 ammo it is not cheap though.
Precisely, and thus not exactly what I would call "generic."

That label, to me, generally signifies cheap store-brand stuff at a big-box discounter, sourced from someplace like Russia or Serbia. YMMV.

If I didn't have other financial priorities for the time being, a FiveSeven would be on my short list for a fun range gun. I own a FN FNS-9 longslide that I am impressed with, so I'd like to own its 5.7mm counterpart someday.

I've had a FiveseveN for about 4 years. Great gun shoots like a laser beam. Wating for a threaded barrel so I can use it with my MysticX can.

Ammo wise I've read there is only one of the several types of FN branded ammo that are made by FN. The others are reportedly made by Federal. I think the FN manufactured stuff is the 197 but I ma be wrong. I shoot primarily the American Eagle stuff. It eats it quickly and without any issues.

rifle

If they had a pistol/rifle combo I'd probably get a set. As it is, I use a 22 AMT automag and 17hmr rifle, but both are a little light for larger varmints. I like the reloadability of the brass though.

I don't know from generic, but that 2025 FPS I mentioned with the FN factory SS-192 ammo was a 20 round average from the standard FN pistol with approx. 4 3/4" barrel, not a 10-inch barrel;)
