Fmk

I don't want to buy a piece of junk, but it does bot have to be a Cadillac like a Sig 226 either.

Cadillac would be more like a Python or Wilson Combat. FMK is more like a Vega.

FMK is an 11 year old, California based, manufacturer of clones assorted. AR's and what appear to be a cross between a Glock and something else. $1200 will buy you a polymer framed, 9mm pistol and a 16-1/4″ barreled, 9mm Just Right Carbine with 3 mags.
Awful decent of 'em to think about us and make a pistol with a 4.25" barrel. sniff. No mention of them having an Commerce Dept. exporter's licence though.
"...won't compete with a Gold Cup..." No 9mm or much else will. At FMK's prices, they're not in competition with Colt anyway. Very much entry level pricing.
"...a locked vehicle means nothing..." Does for the insurance claim.

I consider the old German 226 I have to be a Cadillac. I would consider Wilson to be an Aston Martin.
I think I have decided I will buy two Kahr pistols for $20 more. With the extra magazine, they are actually a few dollars cheaper.

I've never watched a video review where there weren't stoppages.

I was successfully able to prevent the slide from returning to battery during cycling while handling one in a shop... by holding the trigger down after firing a shot... no thank you. for a few more dollars you could get a canik or an EAA, I recommend those over the FMK.
