Fl. Supreme court rules in favor for gore

Fl Leg.

These rulings by the FL SC have just screwed up the entire 'manner' the Fl leg has set up for choosing electors. Seems the SC should slap FL SC so hard their siblings die. Some are saying the US SC will be hard press, but may just find a way.

This is why the Demo's wanting a 'living document' rule of law is flawed. It only leads to chaos.

My opinion is that I am an American. Therefore, what my opinion is does not matter. The GOVERNMENT is now the ruler of us all.

When they found out that we would buy the Warren Commission, the road was suddenly paved with gold for disinformation. We are now fed what we will swallow. We will swallow anything.
Lee Harvey Oswald ( or whoever ) may have killed a president.
The Warren Commission killed any need for truth in anything fed to Amurrikins.

It has not been the same since. It never will be.

Cheer UP guy's!!!!!!!!

This is all a waste of time and money...........
The Legislature has the final say.
Not the US Supreme Court or the Fla Supreme's( sans Diana).
Go to http://www.drudgereport.com, and read Constitutional specialist Ann Colters column..............
She has it nailed down........
This deal is His- Tory, I don't care if Gore gets 10,000 more votes than Bush in the recount of recounts.
Florida is BUSH's.............
The main worry is that one or two of the electors from another state, that doesn't require their electors to vote as they were selected, will defect, be bribed, blackmailed etc.........this IS the hidden card.
All the Fla action is just to stall for more time, and to try to garner public support.:)

Contrary to wishful thinking, this IS a done deal – I’ve believed firmly from the beginning that Gore would be the winner at the end of the day, and I certainly haven’t seen anything yet that changes my mind. In a contest this close, the uncertainty in the vote count is greater than the claimed margin of victory. Each vote count is likely to yield a different result, even if bias is eliminated. That’s Gore’s litigation strategy. Get enough challenges going, enough counts going, and one will positively end up being successful – he can’t lose.

Up until now I’ve been tempted to think that if more gun owners voted, we wouldn’t be looking at four to eight years of this guy, but that’s probably not true. In today’s Wall Street Journal I read what to me was a surprising statistic on how gun owners voted. If you believe the exit poll numbers, out of every 100 poll respondents who said they were gun owners, roughly 45 voted for Gore, 55 voted for Bush. Given the efforts of the NRA, GOA and news groups such as TFL, I really am amazed at that. To me this means that there are plenty of issues that trump RKBA when it comes to choosing a president, even for gun owners.

Bush has filed an emergency appeal to the SCOTUS. The 11th Circuit is in the jurisdiction of Judge Kennedy. Judge Kennedy, himself, has the authority to immediately (as in tonight or tomorrow) place a temporary stay on the FLA SC decision until the SCOTUS can take up the case.

The FLA SC is in trouble. The Chief Justice of the FLA SC dissented from this ruling and basically made the Bush argument for them in his written opinion. He says that the decision that the four justice majority on the FLA SC made was entirely unsupportable according to FLA and Federal law and would not hold up under scrutiny of the SCOTUS.

The Fox News legal consultants feel confident that the SCOTUS will overturn this ruling.

Cheer up guys, I think the SCOTUS will come through.

Ken

They violated their own ruling by apparently holding that even those votes which came in after the deadline should be included.

Since SCOTUS vacated their original ruling, did that give them a loop-hole to jump through so there was no self-violation? Could the SCOTUS ruling have been the mechanism by which they are attempting to "Steal" the election?

Did we expect anything less?

The fact they acted political is not a suprise to me. 4-3 split is. According to Drudge the ruling requires them to recount the votes thrown out by the machine in 65 counties, not just the one's Gore picked. And it added that the votes must clearly show the intent of the voter. IE if the hole ain't punched it don't count. This in itself could be a plus. I don't know if I trust the legislature to follow through (though I pray they do) I missed Mr. Linbaugh today but a friend of mine reported that he was talking about 3 Republican legislators who were defecting to Gore and that the theory was that they were being black-mailed in the same fashion that Bill has used to get people off of his back. I have long suspected that the court stuff was the smoke and mirrors part of this ploy and that the real work was being done with the Electorate. I pray to God I am wrong. I'm not buying the ammo yet but I have a platinum card waiting to be used on the 18th. I prayed minutes before they made their announcement and I will keep doing that till this is over. Everyone who will, please join me. I don't want to have to fly my first national flag for the next 4 years and have to explain to "joe six-pack" what it's for. Joe, don't give a Rat's a$$ anyway and even though this has all been played out in public, still doesn't. I am really not sure how much of my humanity will be left if this SOB is able to pull this thing off and steal the election. I wonder how many other people out there are experincing that growing anger!

I find this very interesting from Judge WELLS, C.J., dissenting.

“I want to make it clear at the outset of my separate opinion that I do not
question the good faith or honorable intentions of my colleagues in the majority.”

He then goes on and waylays the majority… Saying everything just short of calling them crooks… ie…

[We must have the self-discipline not to become embroiled in political
contests whenever a judicial majority subjectively concludes to do so because the majority perceives it is “the right thing to do.”]

In other words he is saying that the majority ruled not based upon the law, but rather what they felt was “the right thing to do.”

Friends it is not over…. The SCOTUS will overturn this decision.

I'd like to tell y'all how proud I am to be a part of this site and this conversation. Seriously.

Sure, we can be angry; we can be skeptical. But we've left the shrillness for the Liberals....that's their style, not ours. You guys renew my faith in our ability to carry on rational conversation in the face of stolen victory.

But this victory, will not be stolen. This I guarantee. The Florida Legislature has an obligation to act and, while I think this would taint the Bush victory terribly, I have confidence in his ability to bring the sides together. More important is SCOTUS. I don't need to be partisan to see the ruling of the Florida Supreme Court as untenable...even the Democrats were shocked. SCOUTUS will take this case and SCOTUS will reinstitute the Rule of Law.

Worst case scenario:
There's a fair recount with defined criteria. Gore wins. So be it. He simply doesn't have the ability to act as a uniter...he goes nowhere. Let's face it...the election is *real* close....I'd almost risk a true recount at this point so that America has no lingering questions. However, this scenario is not in the cards.

The real hero here:
George Bush. Youthful hellraiser; "Failed upwards" most of his life. I gave him my vote only to keep the election from Gore. But daily he shows himself a man of class and substance. He refuses to be "handled" or baited. He is the next President of the US of A.

Chief Justice Charles Wells wrote in a dissenting opinion that by ordering the recount the four justices who did so created ``imponderable problems...

``I have to conclude that there is a real and present likelihood that this constitutional crisis will do substantial damage to our country, our state, and to this court as an institution,'' Wells said.

Read that again ... quite a statement, coming from the Chief Justice of Florida. The talking heads are referring to this as hyperbole, and inconsequential. I think they are optimistic.

Gore will tear this country apart if he somehow prevails. And he wouldn't give a damn.

Regards from AZ

Rich; I have to agree. I am very afraid that if Gore does get to be president he will follow in sweetwillie's footsteps and do executive orders that a 50-50 congress cannot reverse. Can you even imagine the damage he could do?

Bush will be the President.

FLSC is foreshadowing the type of gov't we will have if Gore wins....this is why Gore and the Dems are fighting so hard. The real prize is the USSC...An activist liberal SC that would effectively rule the country for years.
