First time semi auto handgun buyer! Help!

Mostly a range toy and possible open carry. Smaller hands. I have great eyesight and good hand strength. Shot plenty of rifles, shotguns, and even quite a few handguns. I have a S&W Model 66 already just need something other than a wheel gun for the collection :D

After being mentioned earlier, I am very interested in getting a Taurus PT92. Seems to be a great little gun and chambered in 9mm (cheap). Even found a couple used already :)

The Taurus is a decent clone of the Beretta 92FS. It is one of the better guns that Taurus makes. It however is not a great gun for people with smaller to medium sized hands. I would shoot one before you buy it. If it does fit I would consider a used Beretta vs the Taurus unless $$$ are too tight but you can get a LNIB to VG Beretta around $450.

If you are ok with used guns there are a ton of guns that will work for you. Look at the following:

-CZ Compact or CZ P01. (used)
-CZ 75B if it fits your hand because DA has a long reach. (used)
-Sig P229 (used)
-Sig P226 (used)
-Sig P2022 NIB
-Sig P220 (used)
-Browning Hi Power (surplus/used)
-RIA 1911s should be within your budget NIB

Sig P226 is by far my favorite gun I've ever shot. Absolutely love it but a little tight and I'd prefer not to buy an abused one

I own 2 Beretta 92 models, a Sig P226, a Walther PPQ, a M&P, and several 1911s, plus a CZ75B. If I had to live with only one, it would be the CZ75B. I'd recommend it as your first purchase.
