First time ND'er...Glad I followed the other rules...

Glad to hear that nobody got injured... My bersa thunder drops the hammer on its own when I engage the saftey/decocke,r your's doesn't??
Maybe I misread the post.

Glad nobody was seriously injured.

Next time don't fiddle with the gun if someone steps in front of the firing line. Simply take your finger away from the trigger and point the muzzle straight up. Use your voice to get them to move back. I wouldn't have tried to activate the safety on any gun in the situation mentioned.

thanks for posting, glad that everyone was OK, these types of posts are always good reality checks for us all; good reminders to keep our safety vigilance in full gear

this is one of the very few cases where I think I would call it an AD instead of an ND.
Nope. While it was unintentional, there was no mechanical failure of the weapon. If your finger was on the trigger, the failure was human, not mechanical.
There is the dividing line.

Good on you for 'fessing up. And don't call it your "first" ND, which implies there wil be others :). Make up your mind to learn from it and resolve to make it your last.

GUY MONTAG,

Once, whilst sitting in my easy chair, I had just finished cleaning a pistiol. I chambered a round and was then interrupted by a horrific scream from upstairs (false alarm). Coming back down I had lost my attention to safety ,lowered the hammer in an unsafe manner and had a true ND.

Another time a retaining strap on a shoulder holster broke, my pistol fell to the ground and discharged. It lead to a recall/safety warning from a large manufacturer in virtually every gun mag around. That was an AD.
