First time CCW - felt weird

$19 holster

Thanks for the post, Stevie Ray. I ordered a JIT Slide holster off of the Don Hume website a couple of days ago for my little Ruger LCP and the holster was about $25. I also have a Simply Rugged pocket holster for the LCP that cost about the same. One thing I've learned by reading TFL is that holsters can make all the difference and it doesn't cost much to try different styles until you find a comfortable fit. For that matter, one fit may work better in the summer, another in the winter... same gun, differnet fit.

I'll be brave and admit my CCW rarely sees any use. I do work in gun free zone, and also have to admit discomfort and hassle factor without seeing a realistic need for it do play a role too. What are the chances? Please don't take this to be an anti2A troll. Infact I got a CCW as much to make a statement as for the possibility of needing one. There are occasions I feel that much safer with a side-arm, but those are far and in between. BTW I have Don humme and Galco holsters that are very natural feeling except for the extra couple inches they take in my pants. I had all my pants loosened some by the tailor just for that reason. :D

going on vacation and won't be able to carry there so I have had to actually practice not carrying because of the naked without it feeling.

My Wife thought at my age of 71 that I had lost it for sure. I Conceal Carried around the house for at least two weeks before I ventured out with my firearm. By that time I was completely comfortable with having it with me.

Try carrying one for 30 years, then going out without it just to see how it felt. Now that is what feels weird. You will get used to having it soon, then when you don't have it, you will feel naked.:)
