I don't cry about $25 when I just spent $800 (I find them used for $650 most times). I get your argument that you shouldn't have to, but it's like complaining about putting mud flaps on a brand new Audi. You just dropped $40000. A few hundred is going to break the bank? Really? Plenty of folks don't do the springs, it is just worth it to me. It is less than the cost of one mag and takes all of 30 seconds it is that easy (no gunsmith required). I do the same on CZs.Proving my point on a $800+ gun why on earth should you have to pay an additional $25 become a home gunsmith. PS I don't buy new Sigs. The only one I have even considered in the last 5 years was a LNIB P227 SAS a gun was selling a the fun show for $650. I was a steal but I passed.
I find the trigger on most HKs to be horrible. I think the USP is a double whammy in that the grip is horrible as well. Just not a HK fan have owned USP 9/45 P30 and HK45 all bought and sold within 6 months of ownership. When I shot them compared to other guns I could not believe people pay $800+ for these things. I never paid near that always bought LNIB used and sold for what I had in them or more. YMMV
In the end to the OP whatever floats your boat. If you are happy then we are happy. In the end buy what you want with your money and be happy. If sometime down the road you change your mind sell the gun a move onto something else. Then Rise and repeat.....
My comparison to new SIGs was because the op seemed to want to buy new and new vs. new I would go with HK personally. I buy used SIGs too, just put a 1990 P228 on layaway. But for me the HK is lighter and smaller for carry. If carry isn't a concern and we are talking a classic German P series the SIG is a better gun.
