Firearms That were Willed To You

A friend's father gave him his P-38 Mauser before he died. The father pulled it out of an officers closet at Dachau when his unit took part in liberating the camp. If I were in my friends position, this would not be a gun I could or would sell for various sentimental and historic reasons. However, he did sell it to me and I passed it along to my father who has a small collection of P-38's.

willed gun

My Father-in-law gave me his Berreta 32 auto. Wanted me to have it before it became a will issue. He knew I know the story and appreciate it more. He carried this in Germany during the "Cold War' while he was in the Air Force. Often he was on "special loan" to CID

Means the world to me

Was lucky enough to have a dad who served....Had a nice collection of M1s , 1903s 1903A3s, 1911s and various current civilian manufactures. Split the collection with my brother, but we pretty much got some of the same... I did get a Sam Colt 45 Colt comm. and a Fox Stevens SxS that are sweet. Nice Ruger security 6 too. Many were dupes of what i already had, but these are special ones. Only one I really didn't care for was a Marlin 1894 in 357. Was not anywhere near the quality of my Winchesters, but accepted it as a gift without any reservations. All in all I think the Fox really does owe me.....have many of a black and blue shoulder from that nasty thing from my teen years....

In my family, guns don't go in the will

But they are inherited.

I have my grandfather's Ithaca (Flues model) 12ga. That gun turns 100 this year. I also have my father's Model 29, Colt Govt Model, and Browning Challenger. Also have my wife's uncle's 4in model 66 (no dash).

Some day, my granddaughter (or grandson, if he ever gets here) will get that Ithaca. The others aren't spoken for yet.

I was given this pistol (wrapped in the oily rag shown) and I don't know what it is or how old. It says Liberty on the barrel but that is all. The trigger is missing and the cylinder is stuck. It came from my great grandfather who served in WWI. Any help in identifying this piece would be great.

My grand father left me a colt match target when he passed. He left my mother a Pre 64 mod 70 Fetherweight in 308 , a Charlesdaly 3" 20 ga. double bbl., and two 1851 navy colts with providence. Last year mom passed and left the Charlesdaly to my little girl and the rest to me. These guns are worth more to me than anything I have ever payed money for.

Well, I've got my Dad's old Sears, Roebuck 12 pump gun. He didn't hunt, but won many a turkey, ham, or slab of bacon at the local "Turkey Shoot" with it.

I've also got this old Stevens 46, 22 that a buddy gave me to pay off a debt he thought he owed me. I had given him a fishing rod & reel. He said he'd pay me for it, but I knew he didn't have any money, so I just told him to keep it. A few days later, he came by with this 22. I told him if it made him feel better I'd hold the gun and he could pay for the rod & reel when he got the money. We agreed on $75.00. He never paid me, and eventually moved to Oklahoma, and passed away not too long after that. The rifle sat in the gun cabinet for years before I finally got it out and shot it. Doesn't shoot bad at all.
