Okay - Someone - and I wont mention names... has just RUINED my sleep paterns.

I am officially hooked to INFILTRATION. 2.80 is now beta testing and it has some of the slicked gaming that I have ever seen for a FPS game.

This is so worth the trouble to download. Not that much bother with a DSL line... But if you had slower - you'ld want to pull it down at work and save it to a CD or sumthin.

The models are amazingly detailed. The weapons behave like real weapons - including running dry at the worst of times. You have to move tactically, and take cover while you reload... Amazing.
Did I mention the details? For example, on the HK MP5 you can actually see the little red bullet icons for the selector! You hear the brass tinkling! The M-16A2 has a 3 round burst! The HK 61 grenade launcher opens like the real thing! The Shotgun has a working tacticle light! The PSG1 has a wood grip! The PSG1's scope has the right recticle! Your pisols slide locks back on an empty mag! When you reload the MP5 you even do the HK SLAP!

This is the COOLEST FPS (First Person Shooter) that I have ever seen.

I love that AT4 rocket...

This is one sweet game.

Get an Unreal Tournament CD any way you can. Beg borrow buy or steal it. Instal it - but dont play it. Goto planetunreal.com and download and instal the 432 patch. The download and install the Infiltration MOD.
Then Open a Practice Session and select the Infiltration game type... then select Assault...

Oh - before you play it... take a pitstop - get a platter of nachos on hand - and a big slam of MT Dew. Then bid your family fairwell... because your gunna be busy for awhile!

I rate this game a 10 on all counts.
The new version 2.80 - I didnt get that one... its betta and a little buggy - so get the earlier one first. The new version looks even better (a 12?) with features such as being able to lean around a courner, go prone, turn on/off illuminated recticles, use the actual gunsights, and all kinds of other features. This goes beyond... it just... just... UNREAL!

After all the hype on this I just can't wait the two minutes for this thing to download. I will try it out and if it as good as you say I won't be back for a while :)

Ah, looks like maybe I'll have to dust off the UT CD and check that one out too.

I just started playing Infiltration 2.80 and it's much better than the 2.75 version. It was worth the double 40 megabyte downloads (one for the maps, the other for the INF_2.80 files).

2.75 is good enough for me...
Has to be - 2.80 isn't running for me.
I suspect its the OpenGL issue that troubles be with QuakeIII. My card can't read OpenGL.
I think thats a requirement for 2.80.
I can't launch 2.80 in the slightest - so I am not sure what the problem is exactly.

2.75 is killer fun as it is.
2.80 looks too good to be true!

George,

Both versions are completely dependant on the UT engine, the graphics code is not part of the mod. If there's a problem it's probably a driver bug that is irritated by some model or map...

Well - That may be. I'll just be content with the 2.7 version.
And my little quite MP5.
You know - for a subgun it has very good accuracy when fired in short bursts. At long ranges the little climb there is means walking a center mass aimed burst into a headshot.
The muffled report makes it harder for the OpFor to figure out "he's over there!"

I especially love the DARK GAME feature set with 20% light. Hide in the shadows and roll a grenade down a hall where the other guy is tryin to sneak up... Nice!

If one of you fellows could walk me through the proper installation process - I'ld be grateful - evidently I did not do all the file swapping correctly.

Just HOW do you do it all?

Exactly where are you having trouble? Is it just a matter of getting the proper files in the right folders, or getting Infiltration 2.75 working from the UT menu? Infiltration 2.8 is a bit different, filewise and getting the .exe to work, than 2.75 and you should read their installation manual found on their website.

The files should be as such in your Unreal Tournament directory:

.utx files should go in the "textures" folder

any .ini, .int, .u, etc should go in the "system" folder

.uax files should be in your "sounds" folder

Usually there's a "readme.txt" file that explains where the files should be unzipped.

I've been playing nonstop all day long. I've been using the AKSU-74 Krinkov and it's simply awesome. Switching from auto to semi makes same the mettalic "klunk" as you'd expect to hear from an AK. Taking control of the M2 machine guns spread out through some of the maps is cool as well.

In a lot of ways Infiltration 2.8 is like Rainbow6, even some of the maps are laid out like some R6 maps, but the play is faster and the graphics are better. I disabled the "exploding ammo" option because it tended to slow the computer when a large chunk of ammo went up.

The bots start off a little stupid, probably because they don't yet have any routes, but as you play, they learn your moves and sneak up behind you.
