Hi everyone. Those of you who game here and have a copy of Half-Life might wanna check out this new mod called Firearms.

my copy of half life is getting a little dusty on my shelf, while i have been playing a lot of combat flight simulator, maybe its time to bring half life back to life on my PC.
P.S. i agree nice write-up.
 
I would, for Team Fortress, gotta load HL back on my machine and distract my wife for a few days...plug the kids into the tv... open the bag of cat food and make sure the litter is full and clean... purchase a small refrigerator and stock it... forward my phone to voice mail with a message that I'll be indisposed for a while... call my clients to tell them the same... postpone my IRS audit, and... :D

Which models do you think are inferior to Counter-Strike's?

I'd say the player models are, but the weapon models aren't, except the AK-47. The AK-47 in FA is so rediculously bad I can barely stand to use it. The PSG and the G3A3, on the other hand, are some of the best model and texture jobs I've ever seen. Look at the PSG if you get the mod, the top of the gun looks like finished steel, it has that sorta swirly grain pattern to it like something that's been finely sanded. Very realistic looking.

Anybody play Starsiege tribes? I only have time for one game, and I lovwe it. I like to be a sniper. hehe. anyway, e-mail me if you wanna go play on the same server sometime.

Anybody playing RainbowSix: Covert Ops essentials? The training is a bit tedious.

I just uninstalled HL to install R6. Mainly I've been playing SoF, Superbike 2000, USS Darkstar for HL (finished, hence the uninstall), and Motorcross Madness.

Can't wait for the next Doom and Castle Wolfenstein games come out...

Wow others play Counter Strike here.... I am a member (in-active right now) of a Counter Strike Clan (Angels of War). I might be up to playing a friendly game on a Sunday afternoon.. If there are enough people I can prob even get a server for only TFL people up for a few maps.. :)

I too am addicted to Counter Strike. I play all day when I'm at work and when I get home. If you guys play a lot you might see me, I play under the name HAMBURGER_PIMP. Well time to play.

I cant get HL to run on my machine...
But UT runs great.
Any of you guys play UT?
I love the UT's Sniper rifle. a 36 inch barreled AR-10... Nice.
Can you say "HEAD SHOT"?

I've been at it quite a while but I've had a really hard time getting visitors because the search engines won't link to me.

I figured though that putting firearm related stuff on a tech site would be a nice way to present our cause to younger kids who have been taught that it's evil. My intention is to make a good impression, and show that RKBA is the smart way to go.

I'll be putting up a test version of a forum soon, and if that works out I'll have a full-fledged vBulletin forum running.

As for Counter-Strike, I've basically given up on it cause of the hit-prediction code. Firearms where you aim is where the bullets go, that's not the case in CS anymore.

CS is still more polished though, but it's great getting the real flowing battle effect that FA does.

George Hill, are you running HL using the 3DFX mini driver or OpenGL? I was having some lockup problems using the minidriver with my VooDoo3, but runs perfect in OpenGL. The game is worth the trouble.

Also, if you like the sniper rifle on Unreal Tournament, you'll love the "Infiltration" mod for UT. Instead of the standard UT weapons, you have HK MP-5, HK-69, Benelli shotgun, PSG-1, Robar .50 and a few others. It's more or less the UT equivilant of Counterstrike, plus you can play against the bots. The newest version should be out tomorrow. Check it out at: http://www.planetunreal.com/infiltration/

Wow, they actually made the Voodoo3 able to render true OpenGL? Call the weatherman, I wanna know if hell has frozen over ;)

Probably still can't shell out of games though.

I still play UT on occasion. I used so many different names/skins it wasn't funny. Before I lost interest (Diablo 2), I was on mosty as one of the Furies. I may have to fire up UT again. Good game.

BTW, the Hall of the Gods map is just outstanding. One of my favorites.
