Well, after much debate, soul-searching, and tribulation, I finally had to pick a side in the Glock vs. 1911 debate.

Here was my choice:

Good choice, but you should carry the Glock in your off hand as it will be easier to clear the 1911's malfunctions, and when the Glock ka-booms you'll still have the strong hand to fill out the paperwork for the lawsuit :)

I have yet to see a 1911 that worked right without a lot of expensive work and a lot of aftermarket parts!! Glock 36 for me thank you very much!!!:p

I have a Springfield Loaded Stainless in my gun closet that has been working 100% reliable with everything from 230gr. ball ammo to Magtech Gold hollowpoints so far. Except for a new set of grips and an extended slide release, it's bone stock, never seen the hand of a gunsmith.

Oh, and I replaced the two-piece full-length guide rod with the old-style setup, but that was just a personal preference and had nothing to do with functionality. (I just don't like needing a tool to field-strip a pistol.)

Denfoote - sorry to dissapoint you but the Springfield loaded model in the pic so far has run 100% reliable, even with my low-powered handguns.

Dwestfall - What were your choices?

Tamara - Hey now, don't start a nasty Tupperware vs. 1911 debate here!

Have you burped your Glock today?

Perhaps I was...

...unclear.

I meant that over the last several years I have seen many 1911-types that performed quite well "out of the box", and even owned a couple. (My ParaOrdnance P-12 was a paragon of reliability, as is my Springfield V-10)

My roommate's Springfield Stainless Loaded 1911 is another. ;)
