Tomorrow Range day

Should be different then what I'm used to. My previous 44mags were a blackhawk and a S&W model 29. Neither were built as heavy as this Redhawk

I have the exact same gun! I bought mine used. It had a different rubber grip, more like the one you see on the new GP100. I thought I didn't like the grip, so I got ahold of the factory grip that's on yours; I didn't like it once I shot it, so I switched back and I'm enjoying it.

Its a very nice gun! Lots of power but still enough heft to be comfortable to shoot. I'm glad I got it over the s&w mountain gun, a thinner barreled 4" 44mag. I absolutely love mine, it's a smooth operator.

Enjoy:)

Welcome WVMountaineer:)

Nice one metalboy, hah!:D

Congrats! Great minds think alike :)

I picked one up right before Christmas from Gander Mountain. They even gave me a $100 online gift card for buying a gun online and shipping to the store.

I picked up some checkered wood grips from Altamont for her. Haven't shot it yet with the wood

Might get to the range tomorrow with it, and to test some of my 9mm reloads. They were only $38 for the checkered grips

Well, it definitely hurts the hand more with the wood grips. But that was with some Hornady Lever Revolution ammo that was prob pretty hot. I had read a magazine article a long time ago that said they liked that ammo in revolvers. I had a few boxes for my Henry rifle and took a box with me today. Not sure what to think about it, but the paper looked like the Hornady rounds were tumbling and tore the paper pretty badly. My reloads punched normal holes and were more mild.

Gun still needs to be sighted in more. First time I shot it I was really low, I made an adjustment but it looks like I need more, and forgot the small screwdriver today

And don't use orange targets with the red front sight. Didn't work too well :)

Anything is possible. It was only about 7 yards and it's supposed to be really good ammo. Just a very noticeable difference while shooting paper. And it kicked really hard compared to my more mild reloads of 22 gr of 4227

they will definitely kick harder. but do you understand what I am saying? whereas an all metal round will just slip right through the paper, the rubber tip will grab the paper like a pencil eraser and take some of the paper with it through the hole.you can tell by the perfect circle in the middle of the tear that they are not keyholing. sometimes, wide and flatter pointed cast-lead rounds will also tear the paper some. if the paper is pulled very tight and no backing, you may not see that anymore, but it's normal for rubber tips to do that in some instances, especially if moving pretty slow. and with the flex-tip going down the sides of that bullet, I can assume that is what is happeneing, you wouldn't notice it as much if the flextip was full enclosed on the sides like a 9mm

When I first saw it happening at the range all I could think of was a tumbling round. The bottom 2 holes do look like round holes with torn paper and not tumbling. I didn't really look at the target up close when I tossed it in the trash, I was mostly watching it happen from about 7 yards and then snapped a pic before I trashed it. Glad I took a few pics this time, I normally don't. This is the biggest handgun I've ever shot or owned. It's a blast ;)

Finally got to the range and its clear I need sight adjustment and lots of practice with this one

It was very different then a S&W model 29. the 29 seemed to want to lift more while the redhawk was more of a push straight back.
