Finally - A Kel-Tec P-32

Okay guys, it's Monday and I'm chomping at the bit. Oleg's boys at Gunstop in MN should get my check today. Hopefully, if they send it out today, I should have my new pea-shooter by Thursday at the latest. If any of you guys call them about their blued 32, ask for Howard. He's real easy to deal with. Good fella.

Frontsight, is your P-32 an early model, or a newer one? I hope my 32 doesn't break as well. Hopefully that extractor prob is limited to the early models. Then again, the MN shop might have been holding mine for 6 months, who knows.

The price on that flat nose FN stuff from AIM surplus sounds good, but I've heard a lot about it malfunctioning. What can you guys tell me about using it long-term? I'll still go with Fiocchi or S&B for carry. The Hydra-Shoks and Silvertips look really cool, though.

Oleg, thanks again for helping me get one of these little jewels. It should make a great compliment to my beloved Glock 19. With the chrome slide and a stainless belt clip, it will probably be prettier, but for me beautiful is as beautiful does. I own a Glock, so that's obvious. :-)

Where's a good place to get the NAA Guardian finger extensions cheap? Kel-Tec really ought to make them. I'll probably buy me an extra mag to experiment with.

Are the sights non-adjustable?

One more thing - I've had some guys tell me the gun comes with one mag in a box, others tell me they come in a soft carry pouch, still others tell me they come in a pouch with two mags. What's the real 411?

Thanks again for all your advice, fellas!

Frontsight,
Would you mind posting part of your
serial number? I'd like to know the
serial number on a P-32 with the
"soft" extractor.
My P-32's number is 078XX.

Thanks,
Will

Mine is a SN 6xx and extractor is fine. P32s turn over very fast at Gunstop in part because I talk about them every time I stop by and some folks listen

FN ball is low powered, fairly accurate but has very fard primers. My P32 often requires more than one strike to fire them though I hear that newer guns have no such problem. In case of misfire, a re-strike is needed as the almost-wadcuttter bullet is too big to go through the ejection port. My P32 has been perfect with every other brand.

My P32 came in a soft pouch with one magazine. Extra mags are $17-20 ea.
Sights are set into the slide and are not adjustable. Mine seem right on but I get better results pointing it. Just found the Hogue grip for $12 locally, will put it on and trim tonight and will report the fit and comfort impressions.
For ammo, I used S&B and Fiocchi...JHPs are lighter and IMO have little benefit in this caliber.

Oleg,

Your posts and website were what sold me on the 32. In early December, I fiddled with a couple of blued models, but the dealers were wanting 249$-259$ for them before taxes. I decided to hold out for a better deal, and I ended up not being able to find one at any price. Now, thanks to you, I'm paying 40$ less - a much better deal - for a chromed model! I didn't realize getting guns shipped from other dealers was so easy. If the little pea-shooter is as good as you say, this will be money very, very well spent. Normal attire for the summer months is a t-shirt and shorts, and the P-32 will be the only thing that can be totally concealed on my "big" frame of 5'5". :-)

Gunstop is obviously one of your local stores - can you tell me how they package their P-32s? Getting a soft case and an extra mag would really sweeten the already sweet deal I'm getting.

Thanks!

Big Al,
When I purchased my chrome P-32, I got the soft case and two magazines.
I think everybody gets the blue soft case, however I don't know anyone else who got an extra mag, but me.
It was in the box, in an unopened plastic bag.

Gunstop ships with pouch and one mag. You can request extra mags for $17 or so from Gunstop or directly from http://www.kel-tec.com for about $20. P32 takes some training to shoot well. I tried to rapid-fire mine and missed the silhouette at 21' with most of the first magazine! With experience, it point-shoots as well as any other gun. Also, it takes a long time to foul up. Having turned many small blowback guns dysfunctional with less than 200 rounds, I appreciate the P32...350 rounds in one session and it still works fine.

Oleg,

If you can, do me a favor if you stop by Gunstop in the next couple of days. Ask Howard if he's gotten my check yet, and when and how he's going to ship it. I'd call, but long distace eats me up here and I'd probably be more of a nuisance anyhow. Times like this make me act like a kid waiting for Christmas to come! If things go right, I'll have 1000 rounds of 9mm and my P-32 by the end of this week. Guess what I'll be doing Saturday? ;-)

If you get any info for me, post it or e-mail me at Kr_Al@hotmail.com. Thanks a lot, beforehand!

If I enjoy my P-32 half as much as you do yours, I'll be pretty darned satisfied. Now I'll have to break down and get 1000rnds of FN hardball for practice.

woo-hoo!

I have a high S/N (13XXX) but Marty did treat me right...I'm expecting a new extractor and roll pin in the mail now.

Frontsight,
Thanks for posting the partial SN.
However, after I asked you to do that, I realized that it didn't make any difference. I sent my blue parts back to Kel-Tec and "upgraded" to the hard chrome parts. So, my slide is of a later manufacture. I should have thought of that first.

Big Al,
Why are you going to buy so much hard ball to practice with? I'm a believer in practicing with what you keep the gun loaded with. And that is either Hydra-Shoks or Silvertips.
In Kentucky, a box of 50 Silvertips is only $17.50, so I shoot/practice with them a lot. Silvertips have a very smooth edge where the case meets the projectile. I believe this smooth edge is why Silvertips don't ever jam in my NAA Guardian. The .32 caliber Hydra-Shoks are more expensive. (and a little "harder shooting".) Either of these rounds go slickly through the P-32.
It's hard waiting, isn't it?

Will,

Remember that old Tom Petty song?

"The waaiting is the har-dest part".

It sure is!

Big Al,
Yeah, I remember the song. We must be of the same "vintage".

Remember how it felt to have to wait 10 days to pick up your new firearm from the gun shop. The anti's would say anything to bring back waiting periods. I was watching Algore on a news program the other day calling my AR15 a "killing machine". Well, not in his hands. The picture going around the 'net with him adjusting his sling while pointing the muzzle at his head says it all.
